As a monster concept, it's pretty amusing. People throw stuff into the trash so foul that you'd swear it could come to life and crawl out. Grimer and Muk are based on the same concept. Pokemon literally based on trash and sewage so rank, it gained sentience. It's a silly and simple idea for a monster.
