On July 25, 2015, The Daily Beast broke decades-old allegations of sexual assault made against Donald Trump by his first ex-wife Ivana Trump. Fox News superstar Megyn Kelly invited reporter Tim Mak to her primetime show to talk about how the Trump campaign threatened to sue him for $500 million, like they “did to Univision” if he didn’t retract the story.
Trump was so mad at Kelly for hosting the reporter that he called her just to berate her. With the first 2015 Republican debate around the corner - which she would moderate, then-long shot candidate Trump saw an opportunity to pounce. And he did, hard.
