An example that sadly can't be played on this channel is Federer's legendary drop shot against Murray in the Wimbledon 2012 Final, that's the most "artistic" shot I can think of. Other examples would be the back to back passing shots form the 08 final, first Nadal, then Federer. Those are more skill than art, but they are a sight to behold.

A lot of polyester in some of these shots, but I will say this. There is no doubt that the level of athleticism has risen in the game of tennis. Some of these guys are animals out there.

Tennis becoming art is increasingly more difficult to obtain. To me that means slices, touches, feels and other "slow" shots are getting rarer by the minute. Those extreme grips really need to loosen up for this "miracle" to happen. Mind you though, nobody's to blame for this: surfaces have changed, racquets have got better, balls have got better and, in general, materials have improved in a way that power has become overwhelmingly more decisive than raw skill; consequently, players and training regimens have had to adapt to the evolving times. However, that's just a profane opinion coming from a romantic guy who still thinks Wimbledon should be a "serve and volley" thing.

Definately Federer. I’m a nadal fan but he relies on superior athleticism and speed and it doesn’t always look good but he gets it done. Federer makes it look so easy and just constructs points so well and the one handed backhand doesn’t hurt either just with the look of it.

Definetely Nadal. I'm a Federer fan, but he relies on his superior ability to serve aces on faster surfaces and win points with little point-construction, his style looks more mechanic and less creative, and it doesn't always look so artistic. Nadal elaborates a more complex point-construction without quickly finishing the point with an ace, and can create original points and shots that no one else has ever done before. An artistic shot does not necessarily need to involve finesse and little power, artistic shots can also be powerful. I would define an artistic shot as a shot that requires a creative and/or technically demanding execution. By creative I mean innovative. Under that defitition, Nadal's 360 smash at 4:18 is artistic, because it is creative (no other player has ever done it) and it is technically demanding. Federer's drop shot at 10:07 is also artistic because it is technically demanding, but it is not an strict innovation (other players have performed drop shots before), and so it is less artistic.

Mary Alexis I would agree with that completely like I said I like Rafa better but my thing is in the look of it. The look of the one handed backhand alone looks more artistic and just the smooth look of his shots. Federer makes it look like anybody can just walk on to the court and do it. Rafa noticeably looks and sounds like he’s expending more effort. Which is fine for his game he can afford to do that but Federer’s game has a much more artistic look to it.

You can find women's tennis videos on WTA channel, as WTA is the governing body for women's tennis. There is no sexism going on in here. ATP will post only men's tennis videos. If they attempt to post women's tennis points, it will be taken down due to copyright violation.

No, no female players can produce tennis art. Female tennis is so robotic, they all play the same way almost. They don't have variations. Their playing sequences are just boom boom with flat shots. Very rare drop shots, very rare serve and volley, very rare backhand slices (today's era). Anyway, boring. Don't forget: this is my opinion.
