No, the guy was just unprepared for her team, that's all. A snorlax could have easily destroyed Alakazam. Plus its fighting weakness would have been covered up by Latios. The guy made the wrong team choices while knowing the exact team and moveset that Anabel would use. It's hard to swallow that red pill though

I mean, they are built the same way. The only real difference is that the newer games give you more resources to EV train to combat them, plus battle items. I prepared with a Anabel-counter team and it still gave me problems.

​@@fireswarmdragon If you are only talking about the Alakazam then it knows the three elementary punches along with Disable (for some reason). So let's say you are like most people and only get access to Pokémon you can catch in Hoenn (so no Umbreon or Tyranitar). You can either with something neutral to all punches (Aggron, Gardevoir, etc) or if you desperately need to counter this Alakazam get yourself a Houndoom (Houndour is in the Safari Zone) and slap a Lum Berry on it to minimize RNG. Crunch can seal the deal. However, playing around Brightpowder is a bit trickier. Honestly I'd go Hariyama (this thing doesn't have Psychic so you're fine) and with Thick Fat or Guts, there are two ways you can go about this fight. But a Choice Band with Vital Throw (which can't miss) will send this thing back to Red and Blue. Then Hariyama destroys her Snorlax. Anything else I can help you with ?

I appreciate the attempt to help me, but I've just chosen Latios since I know it's typical in speedruns of the frontier, Gyarados and Sceptile are two of my teammates, so I wanted to use them especially since I wanna get the ribbon on Sceptile. The battle frontier is a lot more than just a fight against Anabel, and this trio does a pretty decent job dealing with most threats

Typical gen 3 set would have been crunch, leaf blade, dragon claw, thunderpunch/leech seed I think

@@frankchen4229 thunderpunch is pretty common, a leech seed set would have substitute too so youd probably stick with just leaf blade (and potentially pursuit as the second attack)

See, I wanted to get thunderpunch, but to get thunderpunch you need bp, as for crunch it's an egg move, this is my starter Sceptile, and I want to get a lot of ribbons on the guy

Breeding one stat to full IV? I think it's doable, the judge will tell you the highest stat, but you're essentially just rolling dice, since parents are only guaranteed to pass 1 stat down. I just did some digging on bulbapedia though, I haven't actually tried IV breeding in emerald myself because it seems super tedious.

@@fireswarmdragon Yeah, Lum Berry is very useful. You don’t really need to raise its damage output, even if it doesn’t have perfect Special Attack IVs.

@@fireswarmdragon Yeah that's why. I remember speedrunner Werster had a run where to counter his Latios, the game made up a MAX SP.DEF HERACROSS with Megahorn JUST to counter his Latios. And there is nothing you can do about it lol

Yup, I planned ahead for that with Sceptile, it's why he's got pursuit, I've been burned by Shedninja before at Mt Battle in XD. Hot tip, you can also kill it with status moves, if you have poison or something.

I don't think anyone misses bad rng, but these battles are generally really fun. Especially when you just get outplayed by something mundane like a Porygon 2 or Grumpig. I am genuinely terrified of Porygon 2 now.

@@fireswarmdragon The AI very blatantly cheats and relies on rng hax, even this alakazam had bright powder. That's not fun. Also P2 is just a good pokemon

I've not caught the AI cheating yet, in fact I just took on Anabel again and she pulled out disable on the first turn, before I even got to go. I'm pretty sure the gen 3 ai plays fair. As for Porygon 2 being a good pokemon, that's not something I appreciated until it wiped my team, and almost pulled it off twice.

That's not cheating, it's just insanely bad luck. Believe you me, my luck is always whatever is the least likely, good or bad

Sheer Cold has a 30% accuracy when fighting Pokemon of the same level, which means that at least 30% of the time it will hit. This also means that it can hit multiple times in a row. Since it’s a 30% chance each time.

It's because their pokémon have the highest (if not, nearly the highest) stats they can possibly have at their current level. The only way to get anywhere in the Battle Frontier is (besides having a lot of luck) to EV train and have good IVs, you know, stuff that most players won't know anything about unless they use Bulbapedia (which may not have been well documented when the game came out, I personally know).

- Blaming person for unfavorable odds - Describing about how they lost because of their bad team instead of providing actual critism - Gloating that you won golds just to make them feel even worse they lost You are literally THAT guy right now.

@@lvl5Vaporeon - These unfavorable odds would have almost no impact if the guy had used a well more constructed team. A single Snorlax could have easily destroyed both Alakazam and Entei. Even if Alakazam had frozen Snorlax, it would be almost impossible for Alakazam to kill it. This Alakazam does not have calm mind, so it cannot set up at all. So it will keep using punches which would do laughable damage at Snorlax. Even multiple crits would do laughable damage. Learn to recognize your mistakes instead of just blaming things you cannot control like a little child. - I did provide actual criticism. The guy KNOWS her pokes and their movesets right from the get go. That is a huge advantage. However, with this team, even handling Alakazam could be troublesome. Alakazam is faster than Latios and has Ice punch. Lots of things can go wrong there. Then Sceptile is a mediocre glass cannon and Alakazam has thunderpunch for Gyarados. This team essentially does not have good type coverage and does not have any tanks/shields. It's that simple. Just imagine how much better would the team be if for example the player had chosen Latios, Snorlax and Swampert for example. Again, learn to recognize your mistakes instead of just blaming ''bad luck''. - I said that I had won all gold symbols to make others understand that I know what I am saying. That's all. I have spent hours and hours and hours on emerald's battle frontier, so yeah.

@@fireswarmdragon Bro, it's just the silver symbol, you can win with almost every team. The real issue here is how easy is to win with that specific team and the answer is "not quite easy". This team lacks significant chemistry, plus you could have easily picked better pokes than Sceptile and Gyarados. There are quite a few out there.
