My grandson, Justin, was fortunate enough to go all four years of high school at De La Salle. They didn't lose a game until the year after he graduated. He was the sports editor, then the editor of the newspaper. It was a time of great pride and accomplishment. I can't wait to see this movie!

Ladouceur is the real deal. I had him for several classes - including his first religious studies class at De La Salle, and he was unlike any person I've ever known. Soft spoken strength with unwavering faith and respect for his players.

this movie is not only inspiring but has many profound moments. a lesson my parents taught me and grandparents. Quitting is not an option , you never alone, and it's in those atrocious moments that being humble and picking yourself back up and keep going will turn an atrocious moment into building character and self esteem. I hope any watch this and see we all have our moments life at times is difficult and by all means love one another. saving them and yourself .

I played for liberty union a long time ago and played them at the JV level. We lost, but did alright. Their talent was all at the varsity level. I even worked with someone in san Francisco after high school years later that played for de la salle and he talked about the unity of the team and i argued with him on my point ill mention here below. De la salle and Pittsburg were the two teams that always won too. Pittsburg was and probably still is a predominantly black population, so this is why they had a chance against de la salle. They never won back when i played, but they were the most competative. Their students in Pittsburg were local, not recruited. De la salle played public schools and they were able to basically recruit their players as a private catholic school. The rest of us in public schools in the BVAL didnt get to cheat like that. They are a good team, but shouldn't have been playing all of us public schools such as antioch, brentwood, monte vista, pinolle valley, college park and other local public schools in the bay area. I think some schools were boycotting them and wouldn't schedule playing them. They eventually traveled and played other teams outside of northern california at their level and won a bunch of the games, but 100 plus of those wins are against teams that are not stacked from recruitments and rich kids with talent like themselves. There should be an asterisk next to their wins that they won against local public schools where kids didnt have parents with money to place them in special programs, such as the de la salle football program. Kids came from out of state and played for them, so no one can say it was all coaching. It was hand picking who you would allow to play on the team, not local students in the school district boundaries of concord, california.

@@frogman1941 I played against de la salle the last year they were in the BVAL which was around 2007-2008. They left to the EBAL which is a little bit more stronger competition. Last year they finally lost to a Northern California team st Francis from Mountain View. Their streak is still alive when it comes to beating NCS teams. There hasn’t been an NCS team that has beaten them. A couple of teams have gotten close (San Ramon and I think Monte vista) they aren’t as strong as they used to be now. I’ve heard stories of their JV and Freshman losing to bval teams and ebal teams. Multiple times

Saw the screening last night. Great movie. It's about character, brotherhood and teaching it to young men through sports. One does not have to be a football fan to enjoy it. I would advise taking groups of young people to see it. As we were on our way out, my husband got a text from our grandson, who is attending DeLaSalle in NOLA on scholarship, saying he had a good day and felt he was going to like the school. He will be playing football there this fall.

Saw this movie today with my entire football team. Was actually a really good movie and shows that teamwork is key to success, and no matter win or loose it's all about getting out there and just giving it your best shot. Because when you're out there...you're not a team...you're a FAMILY and those people you call "teammates" are your brothers

I saw this with my JV football team before the season started. It inspired all of us, all odds were against de la salle vs Long beach poly. Just like all odds were against us when our scrappy D10 school with something to prove after two shitty seasons played a PAC 5 school and won 22-0. When the ball is kicked, all bets are off. All the predictions are out the window. The script just might flip. Never put down the underdog

Finally, weight lifting has started a while ago and am finally old enough to live one of my dreams and playing high school football. I don't look at those guys and say "He sucks, or I have to deal with this person for a year. I look at them and think what would I do for this guy? Yes football is just a game but in high school you feel different, with the middle school team last year they were teammates. This year they are brothers that have your back until day one until you take your last breath. For those of you who say this movie is stupid, it's just a game, I guarantee you never played high school football.

When De La Salle as a private school has no rules to follow. When Kahil Mckenzie tried transfering from De la Salle they filed protest and were able to make this kid sit out a year. #2 recruit in the country. I think you people don't understand why its such a great deal that they lost 1 game. They were considered the best team cause they have 151-0 stats. The pressure to win every game and then losing it can drive people crazy. In my opinion this will be an okay movie. Don't take it too much as what you can see. Use your minds on understanding the emotion and feelings the people on the movie has.

Well thats obvious, but im implying that the whole movie has already played out in this trailer. Its as if you were going to watch a movie about 9-11; youd already know the main events. By the way, fuck you for using an ellipsis.

While it is a great achievement to have a huge winning streak like this it's stupid to assume you will never lose a game. I mean come on, they lose a game and suddenly the world falls apart? Parents beat their kids, the coach has a heart-attack, and people get shot because of it! Outside that town no one gives a crap about a high school football team losing a game. It'll pop up in the paper and people will go "Oh that team lost a game? Too bad but it happens....Oh look dish soap is on sale tomorrow". This trailer makes this football team look like their loss ended world peace. For the next film we will focus on a high school football team with the largest losing streak and they finally win a game. This event causes an alien invasion of the United States and the return of Shia LaBeouf's career. EDIT: The trailer doesn't do a good job of conveying when events happened chronologically. The coach's heart-attack and the shooting happen before De La Salle lost the game and yet the trailer makes it look like the events happened after the fact.

It is the largest high school football streak in the history of highschool foot ball everybody knew about this team so no you didn't just say oh that happens you go what really they lost and your jaw dropped to the floor

donkeysunite25 It's still a game and people need to cool their shit. It is foolish to expect that they can win every single game they will ever play. They will eventually lose. What's the moral to this story? Don't become assholes if you lose a game because "It's just a game and it doesn't define us".

Well, that's sort of the point of the movie. The fact that they thought that they will never lose was a stupid mistake they made, caused by arrogance and narrow mindedness. This team had been winning straight for 12 years, generation after generation. So for these people, it became almost natural that they would win and their confidence in winning was concrete. Let's look back at FIFA 2014 for example. Spain had been the golden team that was expected to at least make it to semi finals or something. But nope, they lost 5-1, and they continued to lose after that until they were eliminated. Same with Brazil since they were the home team, had a history of winning behind them, and a star striker prodigy, and they lost 7-1, which was so embarrassing, people cried. Yes, it's just a game, but some people live for these games. They rely on these wins as their only hope and status. Losing is not as easy as you think it is. It actually hurts a lot because it brings your morale down a lot. It probably hurt even more for these people because they've forgotten what losing even was. So the story is their recovery from their loss and how they got back up instead of letting their damaged egos get to them (unlike the Spanish soccer team). There's a reason why pride is one of the seven sins you know.

Tiana Nguyen Yeah but those examples you gave are all international professional sporting events that represent the best players in the world. They have more to lose then a bunch of unpaid high school students. Sure 'De La Salle's' morale may be down but I'm sure the other team that beat them were in high spirits (and they don't have a movie made about them). Isn't that the subject of many sports movies? The underdog beating the seemingly unbeatable champions. What's funny about this story is that 'De La Salle High School' is a private Roman Catholic school for boys, so only the most privileged can enroll in the program. It's also ironic that they allow pride to get the better of them even though they come from a religious school that is supposed to teach them not to act that way. Sorry but I don't feel pity for people who violate their own convictions over the loss of a football game; even if it was one that ended a great winning streak. It was God's will so they should of just accepted it and moved on.

Ethan Ro Sure I get passionate for my favorite teams but I'm not going go over board to the point where I'm beating my kids if those teams lose. It sucks when your team loses but guess what? The world keeps on turning.

I loved Facing The Giants and it seems like this is gonna be another spiritual sports movie in the vein of Sherwood's movie. I'm certainly gonna make an effort to see this. We need more positive moral movies from Hollywood.
