One day we got a call about the internet not working and after a short session of trouble shooting over the phone, we headed to the customer's house. Turns out the lady removed the cables for cleaning and when the ethernet cable didn't fit _into_the_USB_port_, she pushed so violently that the center separator bend away and she eventually got it in there. At first we didn't even realize what was going on, we just reached behind the computer and wiggled the cable, but it was firmly stuck in what we assumed was the LAN port. After telling her that she destroyed her USB ports by forcing in the wrong cable, she just replied that "it always went there". We plugged the ethernet cable into the LAN port, installed a USB-extension card that we had lying around in the car and just headed off, didn't even charge her.

@@DissociatedWomenIncorporated TLDR Watch other skits with Ben in them and it may make sense. every other skit with Ben in it ends with some kind of argument and negativity most with Ben being unhappy. So with this one ending with him content and happy was backwards from normal.

My guess was that Ben wanted to invert the Y axis on his mouse, but I was completely wrong.

I assumed Ben had one of those old computers from the 90s that didn't have USB and had that other mouse input.

My guess is one of the actors wanted to use one of the backwards maneuvers or voices in a sketch. This was inspiration for the complete sketch. Incidentally, if I wanted to support backwards mice in Linux, I would change the driver for /dev/mouse to arbitrarily rotate and scale mouse moves. I don't do Windows system level software, so to make a windows mouse backwards compatible, I would use an Arduino with both USB in and out. It would be easy to flip the signs on X and Y.

I still hold to my theory that Ben is a “secret shopper” for the Playtech corporate office.

I'm also left-handed and yeah it's funny sometimes thinking of all the things I was basically forced to learn how to do with my non-dominant hand, only to find out years later I had alternatives. Computer mice, manual can openers and scissors being the big stand-outs.

I tried a left handed notebook once way too weird. I thought all left handers used their right hand for the mouse. I was baffled when a friend moved the mouse to the other side. I do find being left handed and scrolling with my right gives me an advantage. I can take notes and scroll at the same time. Right handed scissors are bitch to use.
