@retrospy honestly I don't blame you or anyone else for thinking that 😂 It wasnt at this event thats for sure! Mr Miyashiro was a special guest at our Jazz concert where I went to high school, and we played Gonna Fly Now as our finale piece when the event was over and Miyashiro played beautifully as per usual. The special occasion was a Jazz competition amongst West Texas and New Mexico schools. Not only was Eric there with us, but also Jeff Coffin and Marko Djordjevic! It was the best senior gift I could ask for.

starting at measure 27, the chords at the end are a bunch of maj7 chords over their third, with a really dissonant m2 interval between the maj7 and the root. In order of root notes for the maj7 chords, it goes B Bb Ab F Ab Bb C for the first segment. Then it continues C B Bb Ab F Eb C B Bb Ab. So overall it's a constant structure of maj7 first inversion with the tonal center being steps of the F blues scale. Very cool, I'm not sure if I've ever seen that before.
@nirajmehta6424
@nirajmehta6424 Жыл бұрын
The final cadence is first F#m7/E Dmaj7/A A/C#, which is a surprising jump to very tonal A from F blues Then we have something like G#+maj7#11 F#+maj7#11 (or G6sus4/Ab F6sus4/Gb??) into a Cmaj9sus4/F. Crazy cadence which goes back to being very atonal.
