I don’t like how judgey some of the comments are on here about eve’s time management lol, this is an accurate and realistic representation of a typical british student and their struggles balancing things. Especially 18/19 year olds, many of whom go through that phase of wanting to go out all the time! Maybe eve’s time management and priorities could be better but so what? It isn’t affecting anyone else and she’s only in first year. Maybe oxford isn’t supposed to be the ‘typical’ british uni experience of going out all the time but this just shows there are ‘typical’ students at oxford & cambridge and there’s definitely an argument to be had that the workload at these universities is too much. I think these are some of the most genuine & honest uni/study vlogs and that should be appreciated in my opinion x

Yes! I know 40-year-olds who haven't cracked time management. 18/19 is very, very young and there is enough stress as it is.

I love how honest you are in this vlog! I don’t go to Oxbridge but I go to one of the Russell Group universities and for every year except final year I didn’t struggle that much with workload and enjoyed studying. The last year has been HELL and it’s so hard to admit that you’re struggling to balance it all when you’re used to being a top student! But it’s been in this last year that I’ve realised that working hard is important but mental health is always more important. Don’t push yourself too hard and thanks for sharing a realistic outlook on these top schools!

I admire you so much ❤️ I rejected my offer for Cambridge because I don’t think I’d have coped in such a stressful and competitive environment and so cannot imagine what it’s like for you studying at Oxford, while having to not only keep up with the insane workload but also deal with receiving nasty comments from many people on a daily basis who feel the need to critique your lifestyle x I know it’s easy to say that you should just ignore these people but I see how they would still take a toll on your mental health. I hope you have a nice and relaxing break from Oxford and I just wanted to say that I think you’re doing amazingly and I wish that I could be even half as strong and intelligent as you are ❤️

It was around 2000 pages and a book and all the discussed stuff from 1.5 years of history lessons. Like uaaat. And that was just ONE of the 15 exams we've had within the last 3 weeks. I’m at drama school not uni but I’m up at 5am every day to go to the gym to lose weight and get fit enough for dance (something I have to do for course progression) then 8.30am - 4.30pm I’m in college 5 days a week then I have to run to work to be there for 5pm and I work till 11 (have to to afford to be here), then walk back to my flat and crash in bed so that I can get a few hours sleep to do it all again tomorrow. I have no time to eat, clean, cook, tidy, revise, even fucking wash my hair. Feel like drowning at the moment. I haven’t spent any time with friends or done anything sociable yet in 2019 and haven’t seen my family in months

I feel like a lot of people commenting about Eve's priorities are quite naïve. I had a tutor tell me this week that she encourages her students to take time out when they're writing essays/revising because it is extremely important to have a break, if you don't you'll end up stuck in the same mindset and won't be as creative. Going out, whether that be a night out, a walk etc. is really useful for letting your mind wander and reset so you can become more creative and make links, your essays will get better because you're not just going over the same thing all the time, not only that but it's important for mental health. It's crucial to have breaks and go out guys, please don't sit in 24/7 reading and doing essays. Sincerely, a second year uni student ❤️

Not sure if this helps but my daughter took A level French last summer. She was dreading the listening most of all so we did all the listening work from the text book in the 2-3 weeks before the exam. Every single one. Together. (I took A level French many moons ago and was surprised how much I remembered!). It was tough going but it really helped to get her ear tuned to it. And guess what? She walked her exam. A*, baby! 😎😎. (She did AQA)
@sarahjackson96695 жыл бұрын
I got an A in a level french last year. I would say do as much speaking practice as you can , with your teachers if they’re willing to help, if not literally just on your own speaking French to yourself, confidence is key with the oral !! For your film/ book essay paper, learn a few key scenes/ examples of context in depth, and then a few textual quotes/ critical quotes, and you can probably apply them to every essay !! But my biggest tip would be vocab vocab vocab, start doing some every day now if you’re not already, just working your way through the set vocab in the text book. Good luck xxx
@lilybermingham29025 жыл бұрын
Also a good tip is listening to french covers of music you like and watching french tv shows or tv shows with French subtitles! It helps, in my opinion, for translations to come easier to you, especially for listening exams!

If it helps at all, every uni and every student has issues. I went to a decent uni for my degree and due to it being an expensive city ect was at uni Mon-fri and also worked around 35 hours a week to make ends meet (I believe you're not even allowed to have a job at Oxford) and pay for food ect (no catering provided) I used to work between lectures, do 12 hour work days and stay in the library til 3am...then decided to juggle a long distance relationship in the third year. Oh and I had to have 3 quite major surgeries on my head over those three years too haha. Unis tough for everyone for a multitude or reasons.

I'm only halfway through the vlog so maybe you got everything sorted in the end, but honestly Eve I think you just need to re-think your timetable. I know you want to have 'fun' this week but I mean you literally go out and do something everyday, so surely you can cancel one activity (e.g. going out that night) in order to finish an essay which will ultimately mean you will be less behind and less stressed? I completely relate to you wanting to have a work-life balance, but sometimes you have to make sacrifices in the short-term and that's okay. That's just uni. I'm halfway through second year and I'm finally realising that, so hopefully this helps you 💘x
@RevisionWithEve5 жыл бұрын
it's so hard because at oxford often one 'short term sacrifice' can just lead to a week in the library, cancelling plans often just leaves me more dejected as i feel like i'm getting too sucked up in academics x
@PearlsNightOut5 жыл бұрын
@@RevisionWithEve Eve I love your videos and you are a great role model for young people, but I think you have the wrong idea of uni if you think that a week in the library is getting too sucked up in academics. I know you want to go out and have fun, but you can go out and have fun without having to do that every other night. This whole vlog was about how little time you have and how stressed you are, yet you were out for dinner, nights out, watching movies etc. It's hard to sympathise with someone who can't prioritise. Uni terms are short and stressful, which often means spending weeks at a time in the library having only done a couple of fun social things, but that's okay. You get half of the year off to live your life.
@stellwyn5 жыл бұрын
@@PearlsNightOut @sarah xx you don't know how heavy the workload is at oxbridge. The amount of work they give you would mean that to get it all done to a high standard you'd have to be in the library, constantly, for the whole term. I have seen that happen to friends. Like Eve said, one 'short term sacrifice' leads to whole weeks devoted entirely to academics and that is NOT HEALTHY. one thing you learn at oxbridge is that no matter what the academics say, your mental health absolutely needs to come first! otherwise it will get buried in the tide of essays. Well done Eve for making sure you're happy ❤️ (from a second year student at 'other other place')

AliciaCharlotte W every vlog she’s out partying so she does 😂 there is nothing wrong with that. I was stating if the work load is too much... don’t go out that much so she can get it done. Everyone is aloud there opinion, just because you don’t agree doesn’t mean that mine is wrong.

Lol that's the reason why I would never want to go to Oxbridge haha :D I have friends who really want to go there but lol I would never even apply. I wanna go to a good uni, yes, but idk in my opinion Oxbridge is just kind of unnecessary if that makes any sense lol....oh and btw it's waaaay too expensive anyway😂
