What has Swayman done to earn eight million a year? He’s never even been the primary starter. Paying him eight million is insane.

The Bruins will get a deal done with Swayman. It seems next to impossible that won't happen after they traded away Ullmark But... A big brain move would be moving Swayman for a legit 1st line 1c or a 1st line RW and roll the dice with Korpisalo and Bussi And before Bruins homers say, "no way" to that. Far more NHL teams the last 15 years have won with average goaltending but being good everywhere else Few NHL teams the last 15 years have won the Cup with good goaltending and a limited Top 6 forward group and a team that struggles to score in the post season Just saying..... As for Georgiii Merkulov.... Any notion that Merkulov will be competing for the 2RW job in Boston is at best short sighted and at worst, a complete lack of understanding who & what Georgii Merkulov is Georgii Merkulov has never played wing consistently in his entire hockey life at any level What would make anyone think that suddenly Merkulov is going to have any real shot at being an NHL Top 6 wing when he’s had ZERO NHL success to date, while also being asked to learn a new position at the NHL level for the first time in his life? It’s not happening Bruins homers, so get over this idea that Georgii Merkulov is an option at 2RW for the Bruins, he’s not And that’s not even getting into the fact that Georgii Merkulov is nothing more than an un-drafted version of Jack Studnika anyway Like Studnika, Merkulov does not possess NHL size or NHL speed, he’s not good on draws (even though he is primarily a center) he’s not physical and he’s at best, average defensively. Does that sound like a Top 6 player to you? Does that sound like a player Boston would ever play at center in the NHL? Um, nope Just like Jack Studnika, where in a lower league like the AH,L Merkulov's offensive attributes flash a bit more despite his far too many NHL shortcomings However, again, Merkulov can't play in a Top 6 role in the NHL due to his limitations and his skill set isn’t one that makes him a natural fit on the 3rd or 4th lines in the NHL either When you combine all of that with his lacking NHL size and speed,while also being average defensively and not being good at the faceoff dot... I'm sorry Merkulov is not making the Bruins roster as Center or at any other position long term Can he play here in there in the NHL? Sure, Will Merkulov ever be a full time NHL player in a real, established role? That's not very likely to happen If anything, Georgii Merkulov would technically be fighting in camp with Matt Poitras for the 3c job because again, Merkulov isn’t fighting with anyone at 2RW because he doesn’t play the position and he won’t be playing it in the NHL for any team anytime soon Poitras has far more real NHL talent so he or Geekie are likely going to be their 3C at least to start the year but maybe Poitras needs to recover more from injury or he could use some time in PVD to round out his game If that were to happen, albeit unlikely, maybe Merkulov could make the team but again, that seems highly doubtful The Bruins will also 100% go with Frederic, Geekie, Poitras or someone else they may bring in at 2RW, long before Georgii Merkulov ever establishes himself at that position in any kind of full time role As for Fabian Lysell… It would be a BIG leap to suggest that a young boom or bust player like Lysell, who has struggled with consistency and injuries in the AHL so far and who still has a long way to go in terms of his own play away from the puck, is any kind of sure lock for the Bruins 2RW slot this upcoming season Maybe Lysell makes it out of camp or sometime in-season but he could also prove in camp that he’s still not ready and that wouldn’t be some kind of huge shock to anyone that has being paying attention to Lysell’s development curve since being drafted Odds are that Frederic, Geekie, Poitras or someone else they bring in outside the organization presently will end up at 2RW at least to start the year versus Lysell, who still seems more like a long shot to win the job or Merkulov who isn’t even a real NHL player After Lysell it’s a black hole in terms of any forwards at RW, LW or Center that project as a Top 6 players at the NHL level in the Bruins largely, still terrible, Farm System and Prospect Pool Their 3rd round guys like Pelosi and Harrison both project as bottom 6 guys at their ceilings and the rest of the crop are a bunch of 4th to 7th round draft picks where in those rounds, less than 12% of the forwards or d-men drafted ever play a single NHL shift and less than 5% of those that do have 5+ year NHL careers So Cole Spicer, Dan Locemelis, John Farinacci (undrafted), Riley Duran, Oscar Jelivik, Beckett Hendrickson, Ryan Walsh, Andre Gasseau, Trevor Kuntar and Curtis Hall These are the Bruins best prospects at forward beyond Pelosi and Harrison (all 4th to 7th round draft picks and again after Lysell and Letorneau of course). Also keep in mind that from 2015-2023 Don Sweeney made 29 forward or d-man draft picks in the 4th to 7th rounds. The only two players to play an NHL shift were Oscar Steen and his lousy 34 NHL games and Jonna Koppanen and his even more lousy 5 NHL games. So that right there should tell you that in 9 years as GM Sweeney himself has not been producing anything of value at forward or defense from rounds 4 through 7.in the NHL Draft 2 guys of out 29 (6.89% and the winners? Oscar Steen and Jonna Koppanen Thus, I wouldn't get your hopes up about any of these 4th to 7th round forwards because even if just ONE of them plays 35 NHL games one day, that forward would be Don Sweeney's all time NHL games played leader drafted at forward from the 4th, 5th, 6th or 7th rounds of the NHL Draft And like Harrison and Pelosi, each and everyone of those players does not project as a Top 6 forward at the NHL level and again all those 4th to 7th round draft picks have less than a 12% chance historically of ever playing a single NHL shift, let alone being a Top 6 option for Boston or any other NHL team at some point Thus, unless Fabian Lysell surprises, it sure seems like come the trade deadline that the Bruins will be sending out more draft capital and or prospects to, yet again, fix their Top 6 scoring issues As they’ll likely only be looking for a Top 6 RW, that shouldn’t cost them a 1st or even a 2nd round pick unless that player has a decent amount of term. Time will tell but right now I’d give Fabian Lysell maybe a 35% chance of winning the 2RW out of camp and I’d give Georgii Merkulov a ZERO PERCENT chance of making Boston’s roster at any point, at any position permanently because Georgii Merkulov isn’t a real NHL player, he’s the un-drafted Jack Studnika 🙂

I would give them 3 or 4 in the NHL not 2nd.

If they give swayman the money he wants there will be no money left to trade for a player thats any good.
