When Will Time End?

The answer to this question may depend on whether Stephen Hawking was right in his theory that describes how black holes shed mass and eventually decay. Time is flying by on this busy, crowded planet as life changes and evolves from second to second. At the same time, the arc of the human lifespan is getting longer: 67 years is the global average, up from just 20 years in the Stone Age.
Modern science provides a humbling perspective. Our lives, indeed even that of the human species, are just a blip compared to the Earth, at 4.5 billion years and counting, and the universe, at 13.7 billion years.
It now appears the entire cosmos is living on borrowed time. It may be a blip within a much grander sweep of time. When, we now ask, will time end?
Our lives are governed by cycles of waking and sleeping, the seasons, birth and death. Understanding time in cyclical terms connects us to the natural world, but it does not answer the questions of science.
What explains Earth's past, its geological eras and its ancient creatures? And where did our world come from? How and when will it end? In the revolutions spawned by Copernicus and Darwin, we began to see time as an arrow, in a universe that's always changing.
The 19th century physicist, Ludwig Boltzmann, found a law he believed governed the flight of Time's arrow. Entropy, based on the 2nd law of thermodynamics, holds that states of disorder tend to increase.
From neat, orderly starting points, the elements, living things, the earth, the sun, the galaxy. are all headed eventually to states of high entropy or disorder. Nature fights this inevitable disintegration by constantly reassembling matter and energy into lower states of entropy in cycles of death and rebirth.
Will entropy someday win the battle and put the breaks on time's arrow? Or will time, stubbornly, keep moving forward?
We are observers, and pawns, in this cosmic conflict. We seek mastery of time's workings, even as the clock ticks down to our own certain end. Our windows into the nature of time are the mechanisms we use to chart and measure a changing universe, from the mechanical clocks of old, to the decay of radioactive elements, or telescopes that measure the speed of distant objects.
Our lives move in sync with the 24-hour day, the time it takes the Earth to rotate once. Well, it's actually 23 hours, 56 minutes and 4.1 seconds if you're judging by the stars, not the sun. Earth got its spin at the time of its birth, from the bombardment of rocks and dust that formed it. But it's gradually losing it to drag from the moon's gravity.
ABOUT US
Here at SpaceRip, we value the exploration of the unknown. We surpass boundaries for the sake of uncovering the mysteries of the cosmos and what they may tell us about our origin and our future. With our videos, we hope to educate our viewers on how we fit into the universe, and more so how we can do our part to better it.
We believe there is no better time to inform ourselves about the world around us. Our partnership with MagellanTV is aimed to educate viewers on our complex world to prepare for our rapidly changing future. Through our videos we hope to capture a variety of important topics with the overall goal of promoting positive discussion and action.

@Rapid Evo well nipple like you know a tree is part of the forest but Forest exist because many trees. So it is possible that time will end for each of us when we die but unfortunately I don't think it's that simple kind of just who knows I guess it's a step we'll all take someday and hopefully we're not by ourselves on the other side. This is like asking; "does a tree falling in the forest make a sound if no ear is there to hear it?" That is arguably determined by the definition of sound being used. Thus, if the definition of "time" being used does not require something to record it, Time itself can never end.

The answer to the question "when will time end" is easy. Time is merely a measurement by which intelligent life measures it. If you can even say the "when" part to the question, that in itself is putting a time marker on when time ended, so it really didn't end. Since time is merely a measurement, it ends when there is no one left to measure it.

Its been a while but I feel the need to clarify. Time in *Physics* is a "Physical" quantity. It doesn't end when you or the humans die.
@MrSnivelupagus
@MrSnivelupagus 4 жыл бұрын
@@_harrysingh I believe that is why there is physics, then there is reality. Physics has it's use, and one must understand the benefits of it. Simply put, everybody is subject to physics. An infant learns that he/she cant run through the door w/o opening it. Yet a much heavier, and much larger physical thing (our atmosphere), the infant runs right through and doesn't even realize it's there. Both are made from physical stuff, and can be included in "physics". Quantum physics is starting to tell us the irrelevance of time in some areas I have researched about it. It is throwing a little wrench in the barrel about light speed, and that we know something is not limited by it. Time doesn't have physical properties, yet even a dog observes it, as it is reality. Of course if all life dies, Earth will still rotate at the same speed and orbit the sun at the same speed. These objects will cease to exist eventually. They don't know or care when, nor do they count each time they rotate or orbit one another and name the activity "time" . Yes the tree still makes a sound if no one hears it fall, but we didn't make the tree, or the air that carries the sound of the tree falling. We literally counted rotations and orbits, and made them measurements calling it time. It's hilarious to me every time I see quantum physicists short circuit their brains every time their research leads them to things they refuse to understand. Time is for the flesh. Things that decay. I believe that there is a state of being, or existence that does not observe time, nor is subject to it. A particle in our galaxy, effects it's co particle in Andromeda instantly, and the quantum physicists wont allow themselves to ponder the supernatural question that is staring them straight in the face. They seem to abruptly stop there. In most cases even mentioning the supernatural with the "we just dont know" ending. So I request physics please don't steal time, lol. It's not yours, and it's not a thing. It's only an observation when we set the parameters of what to use to measure it.

Great documentary! Got me on my seat! Just a minor correction (if i'm allowed, as i'm no expert), entropy was explained as "increasing disorder", but in fact entropy is simply "loss of energy, without recharge, in a closed system". In the Universe, and especially at quantum level, "order" and "disorder" lose all their meaning, any arrangement of atoms can be seen as ordered or disordered depending on the view of the observer, and, at most, have only *relative* meaning [a system can appear disordered *compared* to another] although it will always be an abstract concept. A broken glass represents no more "disorder" than a fine one; because all the matter is there, only the arregement changes. Entropy would happen only if that glass kept losing atoms (and therefore energy) until nothing was left of it.
