If I'm picking a starting 11 over the last 20 years, Yaya is one of my center mids. Can beat you from a set piece. Can beat you from distance. Can pick up the ball, run past your whole team, and score. Can distribute. And was so good defensively that he was actually a center back at one point. The thing I will always remember most about Yaya though was when City was ahead and the other team was pressing, they'd move Yaya forward and he'd burn 'em with an absurd run. Dude was just awesome.

All of his wisdom came from Barcelona. When he played as a central defensive midfielder behind Xavi and Iniesta, it's obvious that he mastered his position. He knew what to do, think and take action. He is, in my opinion, one of the most underrated midfielders of this era.

Those were my exact thoughts - for someone of his stature, you would assume or anticipate some lethargy or disconnect between his ball control, close control, dribbling ability and even passing/shooting, but he's so agile, so nimble and so balanced, which is what makes him a cut of cloth apart from the rest. A phenomenally underrated footballer.

Fast,intelligent,strong, agile,good at skills, great accuracy shot power and attacking positioning, great at set pieces,put pride and heart everytime.He had it all. Used to play in the starting 11 for barca as a defensive midfielder with xavi and iniesta. He is one of the best midfielders of all time.

As a Man Utd fan, Yaya Toure is one of my favorite midfielders of all time. Underrated and didn't get the recognition he deserves because he wasn't Europe. I had hoped Pogba would become a beast like him but doesnt seem like it is ever going to happen PS Yaya can be lazy at times but turns up when his team needs him.

Yaya is arguably the best central midfielder to have graced the Premier League and one of the finest to have played on the planet. He was not only dominant in presence, but his intelligence and technical quality is world class. He's a combination of Vieira, Lampard, Gerrard, and Scholes, which is why he surpasses them.

It's hard to say it really, and it gets backlash.... But.. Yaya is probably the MOST complete player to ever play in the PL. There have been some great midfielders, but he has got to be the best of the lot.

Yaya had fantastic technical ability to hit a ball. He could it with no backlift, from a slow pass but generated so much power with no run up

You can say what you what but he is the most complete Middlefield-Player ever. He’s big, physical strong, he has vision, passing, and amazing finish and long shots, fast and agile! Unbelievable! Best Box-to-box player.
