true, though theyd need to have a texture for *every* combination of book locations. its not hard to do that if they already have the full and empty textures, they could easily just copy-paste things around to get everything, but it might be more annoying to implement than its worth. would definitely be a cool feature id love to have but i see why they didnt do it that way lol

It could be done with a boolean block state for each book, and with one separate texture/model for each book that is only visible if the corresponding block state is on. Redstone basically does the same thing, one state for each direction and then different shapes are chosen based on which directions are connected.

I think the reason they didn’t do it is because bedrock console/mobile players don’t have an intuitive way of using this

It would've been nice if different books got different colors. So you can tell enchanted book categories with a glance.

@@tumultuousv That's what I thought at first, but if you look at the block with F3, the bookshelf has *books_stored:* and *last_interaction_book_slot:* The comparator draws from the last interacted book slot, as opposed to books stored. So I think it's just a really weird design choice

I'd rather they don't fix that. It's a unique mechanic that could be utilized in ways yet to be explored

Pretty sure its a bug since taking out the last book does not update comparator output (might be that the bookshelf has two states for no books and holding books). You can keep putting in 2 books and taking them out to arbitrarily increase the default strength.
