I kinda agree with the guy that said not a single good melody was played. Mostly in the sense that, while very, very impressive, that solo did nothing for me, made me feel nothing. It sounded like vomiting notes. But, I'm probably wrong. The older I get the more I dunno, I go back to listening to Miles and enjoy it haha. I can't with these solos anymore. Yes, you're right, probably hours and hours of practice. But ...

Get your horn or whatever instrument you play and play along, but slowly. The transcription is here. There is a ton of feeling within the blazingly fast progression of notes and phrases. Different strokes perhaps, but when I was a teenager with a mind that wouldn't stop, I would put on Coltrane's Giant Steps album for relaxation.
