Nyango Star, named after Ringo Star the musician because ringo means apple in Japanese, is an apple cat mascot who was made to promote a small town that sold apples. His wild drum skills garnered a lot of attention and fame and helped save the town economically. Nyango Star is something of a symbol in Japan as he has had crossovers with Baby Metal and Hello Kitty/Sanrio which is really really cool

@75 I don't know who's actually under the suit but aren't the siblings from the Kyoto area? I remember hearing them use the "hen" ending in words instead of "sen" for example "arimahen" instead of "arimasen". Might just be misremembering though. EDIT: Also they've been fully grown adults and active since the 90's so doesn't really matter where they grew up.

Ayy, Nyango Star! He's a mascot for a region in Japan that is famous for apples. If I remember the lore correctly he's an apple possessed by the ghost of a cat. The joke is kind of that the Japanese word for apple is "ringo" and Ringo Star played the drums in the Beatles.

If you're someone who's played the drums there's a few signs before the drop that the drummer is way more skilled than the song normally would ask for. The consistent use of multi-hits and some of the off-beat snare hits show more flair than the song would normally require, so when it drops it's less of a surprise and more like "yeah, let's let loose!"
