Over the course of the day on Friday at TGW - Louisiana Mudfest, the front pit got ridiculously rutted out. There were originally a couple of lines that would allow high HP trucks to make a full pull end to end, but eventually even those lines just turned into sinkholes from hell. For the last few that attempted to cross, they were sucked down for an EXTENDED period of time. As you can see, toward the end of Friday, it took winch trucks to get the worst stuck trucks back to dry ground. Very few trucks hit that pit the remainder of the event.

What gets me is it took five hours for someone to say "Hey i think we can hook up these two big trucks with winches and pull this truck out". I bet the drivers last words be fore he went in the mud were "Hey yall watch this".

One thing I never get is you spend all that time fabbing a frame and suspension but never make a spot to put a winch on it. Spend all the coin on the truck and cant even get your own self out of a jam because you cheaped out with no winch.

but.....i dont see trees to hook it too close enough? A winch with nothing to hook to is just as good as no winch. Thats why they use straps. A little less lethal when they break too.

Most of these big mud hole trucks dont have winches, not here in Florida anyway. Some do, but there usually isnt a tree to anchor to when you are in a big pit. You could have a winch and a land anchor, but usually someone else just yanks you out.

cradletheballz I got ya, most of the big trucks do up here for logging roads. We don't really have big mud hole fests like down south, more trails of mud holes then anything.

tankmaster1018 You haven't seen some of the hydroplaning competitions. Not only do they get stuck in the mud but they do so at the bottom of as pond or river so the cab gets completely submerged lol.

Man I have been stuck like that a time or 2 lol 1 time it took 2 days to get a truck big enough to pull me out. Mud that thick and deep just isnt fun, when the big rice and caned go to china and its so thick that the diffs hang and wont settle your"SCREWED' feel bad for the guy especially a 5 hour stuck like that in a pit! on a trail 5 hrs isnt that unheard of but in a pit!!

Winches aren't all that common in mud pit and trail riding actually. The giant tow ropes and straps are so much more practical when you're riding in a crew. Just latch the shackle onto another truck, shag out and BOOM, you're unstuck.

well here we almost all have wenches just as easy but just as many straps and those boat ropes are amazing aswell but sometimes a hydraulic wench cant be beat we had a guy get stuck to the point that a guy whos got a converted old tow truck with the boom on it actually had to lift the front up because a tree or something big and hard had completely blocked him from moving forward actually pushing on the axle and its about a hour or two drive to get all the way back and behind him in this trail lol

K the only time I got stuck was with my dad and he had a1990 or 1995 gmc monster truck and he couldn't get it out the mud so he had to call for help my uncle came to the rescue and it took 10 hours get out of deep deep deep mud and when I walked in it was about 15 feet deep and it hard to get out
