Friends, we come to this Third Sunday of Easter, and our Gospel is Luke’s account of the disciples on the road to Emmaus. This masterpiece is a summation of the spiritual life, and it starts with two disciples of Jesus walking the wrong way.

BB, your words always stun and strike fear and awe in me. As a cradle Roman Catholic, the church sadly didn't teach well in my earlier years, but your reaching out through media, has taught me the deep riches of our tradition, the beauty of Scripture, but most of all, Truth, Beauty and Goodness.. real love in action. God bless you and keep you always, for Our Blessed Lord's purpose and God's Will. Amen 🙏🏻❤️

I'm 75, never have I heard a more reasonable explanation as to why Jesus vanished after the concercration. His work was finished with these two followers, it was time for them to get to work. Back to the 11 Apostles, they went to spread God's word. Perfect❤

I've been walking away from Jerusalem for a while now and for some reason I just got this feeling that Jesus wanted to walk with me even despite everything that has been going on. Immediately I began to liken it to the disciples on the road to Emmaus. And then this video pops up and explains the meaning of that story in a new way that is so clear and practical to understand. Crazy how God works sometimes. One day this week I had a calm, peaceful day where I set the intention and asked Jesus to walk with me whatever that meant that day. The next day I didn't for some reason and the storm and darkness returned. I didn't understand how one day could be so promising and the next day so disheartening. And then I heard a voice say, 'you didn't ask me to walk with you today.' It's enlightening to understand that so much of the spiritual life is captured on the road to Emmaus.

Ah the Eucharist, the beauty of Holy Mass, prayer and Holy Mass feed my soul, my heart my whole self! I feel so blessed to have been brought into the Holy Catholic Church, the universal church of the one true God, who made all the Heavens and the earth and all of creation. Going to Holy Mass this morning at Our Lady and St Cuthbert RC church, a small church in a small town called Berwick-upon-Tweed, near the Holy Island of Lindisfarne, in the ancient county of Northumberland, on a tiny island nation called the UK, with a full and bursting heart, that WOF and BB exist in our world today. Thank you WOF and BB 🙏🏻

I too am on the road to Emmaus which seems for most people, including my friends & family, that it is marked with erroneous one way sign. With the throng of people behind me, I fear making a U-turn and having to navigate against this mob of people. Now my GPS, or the Word on Fire Ministry with the voice of Bishop Barron has directed me to look ahead to the upcoming intersection with the Road to Damascus where I will be able to, without fear, turn around to return to the Sacred City. By God's Grace may it be so!🙏

Amazing homily Bishop Barron! Short, instructive, and to the point. Jesus always is ready to “accompany us” when we are headed in the wrong direction! He speaks to us in our current circumstances. His Word informs and guides us, leading us on the path of conversion. After his Word inspires our thoughts with right thinking, he feeds us with the Eucharist, which strengthens and prepares us for the mission ahead: evangelization 🙏

A gentle reminder that even when walking the wrong way Jesus will be by my side and guide me through anything I encounter. I have trust in my savior and I am grateful for this reminder that I will always have someone by my side. He walks beside us everyday and we need to realize that we are his eyes, hands, ears and feet. Also a wonderful message that even when going the wrong way, god will guide you on the right path eventually. God has a plan, and we should all trust his guidance. God will light up the path and will reveal where we should be at at the right time. Patience is key. I love the overall message and the hope it provides. Very grateful for this as it's meaningful to what I am going through. Thanks for the wonderful message as always!

Thank you for sharing your insights on a variety of social media, and like Christ, meeting people where they are - even when the are walking along the wrong path. Love your insights of accompanient, teaching, and returning to the Church to receive identity and mission. Also, how the Emmaues story is a parable for Mass - Scripture and Eucharist. An amazing interpretation and insight into this chapter of Luke. I feel like I've come across this situation more than a few times in my life, not realizing how far I had strayed away until I turned around and saw where I had come from. When i feel too tired or frustrated or angry and look at an icon of Christ and say "not right now", something will happen that makes me stop and listen to the words "yes, now. And always" coming from deep inside of me. Then I see the distance travelled, and find the strengh to turn back. Thank you, Your Excellency, for reminding me of this.

I learned something new today! On the road to Emmaus, the 2 disciples were going the WRONG WAY. I had always taken this to be a foreshadowing of the disciples going out 2 by 2 to spread the Good News. Perhaps it is, but I needed to understand that first Christ needed to teach them the truth. Christ came to fulfill all the prophesies made about him in the OT. These 2 Disciples needed to learn this lesson BEFORE going to Emmaus. So upon receiving this message, they turn back toward Jerusalem, the City of God. A conversion within a conversion.

Dearest Bishop Robert Barron, Good Afternoon! Thank you for the Sunday sermon today. I have been walking the wrong way for a long time, I believed that I could eliminate negativity from my life. But every day does not have to be a happy day, especially when I push the boundaries of my comfort zone, I tend to get anxious, afraid, and worried. But after a while the discomfort becomes comfortable. It becomes familiar. What changed? My thinking. When I let anxious thoughts pass, eventually my thinking returns to normal. I’ve realized that to be fulfilled in life, I have to grow and challenge myself. To do that, I need to step outside my comfort zone. I don’t have to pour more gasoline on the fire. All I can do is follow my heart and be aware of my thinking and my actions That’s it. I’ll have scary thoughts, but that’s okay. I can still take one tiny step forward. Life is sometimes difficult. The problem isn’t the difficulty, but how I relate to it. If I think "it shouldn’t be there", I suffer. Again, it comes down to my thinking. Life is as it is; my thinking creates my experience of life. When I get caught up in thinking that the future will save me, I want to take big leaps. I want to hurry to my goal. Yet this behavior makes reaching my goal less likely. It introduces sloppiness into my work. It produces an aroma of selfishness. But, if I let things take their time, and if I let those thoughts pass, there’s a sense of peace. I can have wonderful relationships, do work I love, and have life go swimmingly. As I write this, I’m not in a hurry. I sense the wanting to finish, but I witness it. I don’t get involved. Then I return my focus to writing and letting the words flow on paper just like music and my soul smiles as well as my heart nods. My breath deepens. This is it! Life is beautiful! Bishop, life is tough. I pray for all leaders of the church, governments, and the United Nations to surrender to God to be their wisdom and authority in all decisions to lead humanity toward redemption and salvation. Thank you for praying for my family. God bless you all. Jesus, I trust in You! Jesus, I trust in You! Jesus, I trust in You! Our Lady of Lourdes, pray for us! Warm Regards, Cecilia Dregers and family(President and Governors🫂⛽ thank you). Wilbur Sacred Parishioner(Bishop Thomas Daly and Father Rory Pitstick).
