My dad started using leaves to mulch the grapes, roses, etc to protect them from the winter. We started to put them through a chipper and chopped them up. We added to that "vacuuming" up the leaves with the lawnmower then running them through the the chipper. Worked wonderfully. In the spring, half of the leaf material had already broken down. Should have used the dry leaves to make more compost but took them to the landfill and composted them. The broken down leaf material was then applied to the vegetable garden with nitrogen to aid in more breaking down. Worked wonderfully!

Yo las agrego alrededor de mis árboles y los resultados son excelentes; en épocas de cero lluvias te ayudan a retener la humedad y en épocas de mucha lluvia evitan que el suelo se lave y se erosione manteniéndose así la fertilidad del suelo ...

Aqui no Brasil Nordeste , os agricultores estão usando folhas e galhos da poda como adulto para a agrofloresta Precisa ver o crescimento das plantas! É muita fartura de cereais, verduras , frutas e arvores florestais na linha das árvores. Folhas e galhos são o melhor adulto.😊

Здравствуйте! Я из России. Все время использую опавшие листья. Накрываю ими посаженный чеснок, просто добавляю на каждую пустую грядку осенью. Почва с каждым годом становится лучше, так как опавшие листья очень любят черви.

I am from Kerala,a South Indian State We are using this dry leaves for making compost in an easy way We first make bed with coconut leaves then spread the leaves dry or fresh on it Add rice water ( it is available daily in every home as our staple diet is rice) This rice water facilitates fermenting the leaves very easily I got ten big bags of good quality compost in the last season Thank u

Hace años, cuando creaba mis huertas, daba vuelta la tierra junto con las hojas caidas, mezclaba la tierra con hojas para las macetas, si las cambiaba de recipiente veia q la tierra con hojas era negra, ah diferencia de la tierra natural en donde vivo, es muy árido el lugar ( mi marido ayudaba trayendo huano de chiva oh cabra,) decia para arreglar la TIERRA, es muy arenosa ,jamas se debe quemar las hojas de árboles y de otras plantas 🌿🌾☘🌲🍁🌴🌵🌻🌷🥀🐝🐞🦋Saludos de la Patagonia Norte Argentina

Muchas gracias por orientarnos. Yo vivo en una casa-finca en la costa norte de Colombia hay muchos frutales que constantemente echan muchas hojas que de ahora en adelante las voy a convertir en abono. Antes las quemaba y las cenizas las usaba de abono. Un abrazo

Excelentes sugerencias y orientaciones para darle provecho a la materia vegetal producto del dedoje por efectos metabolicos o del clima en las plantas. La materia vegetal se transforma en nutrientes de alto valor para la recuperacion de los suelos y ademas, durante el proceso de descomposicion de la misma se generan hongos, bacterias, esporas, micro organismos e incectos que contribuyen a la recuperacion no solo de los suelos; sino tambien a los procesos de infiltracion de las aguas en el sub-suelo...y en general benefician tambien al ecosistema.....excelente....desde VENEZUELA🇻🇪

Thank you for the informative video - Watching from Ohio, USA. Every year we collect all of our leaves on the property and mulch them down into smaller pieces. We use to do this by running over the leaves several times with our lawnmower, but this year I purchased a WORX hand mulcher. I looks a lot like a blower, but instead it vacuums up the leaves as you either walk around your property (best if you only have a few leaves), or by raking all the leaves into a pile and then using the mulcher to break them into smaller particles. Once done it passes them into an attached bag (which isn't very big) and you can then empty the vacuum bag into a larger bag. We have a large property with lots of trees (six large trash bags full of mulched leaves) and I love mulching up the leaves to then cover my garden beds with them to keep our rhubarb crowns, flower bulbs, and tubers nice and cozy for the winter, also we use them to cover our raised garden beds in order to fertilized and build up the soil (and to feed the worms). Once it snows several times throughout winter and then also rains multiple times in the spring, the leaves have broken down and become additional well fertilized soil and we are ready to grow our vegetables, herbs, and flowers again. It is a beautiful life cycle of nature and love of gardening.
