I have heard of studies that say that people specifically associate with people they find attractive, but those studies didn't make a claim friendships in general, gender wasn't controlled for. As I understand it we tend to associate with people with similar features to us and tend to be attracted to those features as well so I'm happy to read an updated study.

My first gf back when i was like 19 had a guy bestfriend and being new to relationships, i blinded myself to it. He didnt like her but i always had a feeling that she liked him. Thinking back on it now, i know she truly loved him and was with me because i truly loved her and he didnt. She was with for the f of it, if he wanted her; she would've threw me to the side in the blink of an eye. Another crazy part of this story is when we broke up, she got with another male friend of hers(as a rebound) who i was suspicious from the jump but after all that she got with a guy who looks just like my best friend. Its been 10 years and still got me f'd up to this day, not about her but because i dont have the ability to trust anymore.

I used to go to school with this girl, and the other day, she invited me over to smoke with her. I'm just casually sitting on the edge of her bed as her dude pulls up & walks in. Dude jumped back like 3 feet when he opened the door but didn't say shit to me. The funny thing is, I felt guiltier than a mf despite the fact that we didn't do anything sexual with each other. The worst is when your male friends are truly friends and y’all just are in no way attracted to each other, but everyone assumes. I grew up hoopin, playing Madden, making beats, lifting weights…way easier to find guys who relate to that than women. I understand many women use a male friend as a cover but just sucks for us that don’t. It’s extremely rare when I find a woman I relate to AND isn’t gay trying to holla at me. Y’all worried about the men, but women will still try to get your girl, too.
