Very well said. I have three kids born and raised in N. America. We have tried to follow the same principles as outlined by you. We speak Urdu or Punjabi at home, kids learn English as they go and mix with other kids in the school. we have not done any thing special but we have seen that our kids love to visit Pakistan and their grand parents more than we do. Kids raised in West are very honest and they lack street smart abilities as found in most of the kids raised in Pakistan. Honest and compassion is taught to them in the school system, my kids go to public school. Most of the public schools in Canada allow the Juma prayer in the school. I have noticed that my kids are more inclined towards their religion than I am. Yes, public school system in Canada is huge on LGBTQ agenda but kids coming from households as described by Dr. Javed's daughter know their identity, deen and responsibilities. I absolutely do not agree with people who says that it is very difficult to raise kids, specially daughters in the West as per the teachings of our deen. It is actually easy, the Western environment along with the teachings at home, raises questions in our children's minds, it makes them to explore our religion more and choose the right path.

Yes! this! JazakAllah! In the west kids do not know the street smart talk that is in Pakistan or any desi countries. They are taught to tell the truth and actually explore Islam in depth. It really stems down to how the parents raise them in their homes

Jazakallah khair for sharing. We r five siblings and we were born in Europe. You r right, the kids r more inclined towards religion and they even have an intact moral system (I’m not saying kids in pak don’t have) But what I have noticed is that the kids over there can easily lie and don’t feel bad about that, they can cheat or make any chalaki while the kids here mostly don’t understand these chalakis. But maybe that is coz the kids in pak r raised in joint family system. We were raised as pakis, we always spoke urdu at home, learnt Quran etc And my parents always talked to us. Of course as every parent they had their shortcomings like I have as a mother! But they always had good intentions and never did anything wrong out of purpose! I have four boys living in west. And I know the environment here and can easily explain it to my kids while my parents mostly didn’t know what was going in schools/tripps I give my kids Islamic values I tell them the differences between west and east but at the same time I even tell them, adopt good things from everyone (no matter which religion) that’s what my mom always says But unfortunately I see many Pakistanis coming to Europe try to “adjust and adopt” very stupid things! They forget their culture, religion and values and think when they adopt the western culture their kids will be successful but that’s not true ! I have seen maaaaany parents who even don’t talk Urdu with their kids coz they say we live in the west, they should tak the language which is spoken here: I would really suggest 1. Build a relationship with ue kids !!! Talk to them About everything 2. Live the values u want to teach ur kids!!! 3. And sometimes don’t be too strict, they sometimes have to make the wrong decisions ! Ya sounds bad but sometimes it is important! I hope I could help a little bit

Totally agree with you ! We live in England and sure I see a difference in my kids the knowledge of deen Islam and Islamic values they’re adopting and learning far more quickly then I did in Pakistan as a kid … anyways teaching them Urdu and our mother tongue (pothwari) is difficult when I started my life here I had to learn English so I can help myself and kids in future then the circumstances were quite exhausting as my first kid was born with a serious illness I spent a lot of years in hospital and daughter didn’t get a chance to learn Urdu properly I need tips how can I teach them Urdu 😓I try really hard at home !!! No luck in speaking they started to understand what I am saying but can’t speak at all

@@zaramohammed1516 my parents had the rule that we only speak Urdu at home, when u r in school and with friends u can speak German. But now (as I’m living in Germany with my kids) we had the rule that we only speak Urdu till the age of 3 (psychological reasons) and then I switched to German while my husband kept Urdu as a spoken language. U can divide it between u and ur husband He can speak English and u can keep Urdu. A friend of mine speaks Urdu and both partner speak Urdu but the kids don’t speak which is really sad. I would really suggest keep Urdu as a language Keep speaking it and watch Urdu cartoons/shows anything So that the kids know the melody of urdu and then they will adopt many words

Homeschooling is the way to go regardless of where you live. No one can teach your child better than yourself. You have the freedom to choose your curriculum and you save so much time in which you can do other things. The best part is that in early stage of a child’s life there is no negative influence, if you have a healthy home environment.

I’m a Pakistani American who grew up in the west and I chose to homeschool because I did my research to find out the pros and cons of homeschooling before I started to homeschool my kids. There are so many resources for your child to use to be homeschooled. Homeschooled kids can get plenty of interaction when you put them in groups or activities. The reason why homeschool kids are way ahead and way smarter in every aspect because they are given the time and opportunity that only a parent can provide. Generally peoples perception on homeschool is that the child doesn’t leave the house which is the complete opposite. We literally are out of the house everyday and my kids are with other kids. Children get their lesson done way earlier while they do extra circular activity and still have so much time. In the west you have to make a conscious effort to have the love of islam. You can put them in swimming, language classes, building classes, take them to the library for story times for younger children, sports. There are also homeschool muslim mom groups on Facebook that you can join. They get together usually twice a week. Children who are connected with nature from toddler stages are so incredible because they learn to be entertained outdoors instead of screens. Another advice I would give is that kids should be screen free and tv should be a prop in the house. Once they reach the age of 5 they can watch it for an hour with monitored parenting so they are not deprived. Kids are naturally very smart and are able to comprehend anything they are really taught by example. You have to tell yourself that there will good days and bad days with the kids which is perfectly okay. Trust me they they see our efforts. Also you have to tell yourself you don’t need to have a conventional educations because conventional education is there for a reason. And if you disagree with those reasonings then homeschooling is for you. I have a kindergartner who is doing 1st grade curriculum and he studies for two hours a day. You guys can listen to sahil adeem and Gabor mate on parenting and homeschooling that will be helpful.

I am not criticising anyone decision. Only sharing something. Immigration on any grounds, but, must keep in mind that you have to pay a price. There is no absolute win win position. 2nd thing when you mix your bucket of water in a river and wants to take out your water after 20 - 30 years. In real terms almost impossible. Majority decisions were made in haste/ emotionally without calculating Risk Factors. A subject is Actuarial science is to Financial Risk and other is Demographic Behaviours , we never asked such things before making decisions. Allah Bless all those who want his Mercy.

I believe that to raise our kids better, we have to evolve as a community. Mosque has to play a good role in our kids lives rather than the boring unnecessary restrictions. For example, churches make it fun for their community, taking them for trips and other recreational activities. Our kids need to see Islam as fun and not some false restrictive authority

I had put my daughters in Islamic school. I did not work outside. I was a full-time mother for my children. But my experience with Islamic school wasn't good it was better than public school, but classmates were doing all the bad stuff that other school children were doing. I couldn't find a single Islamic and good behaving friend for my daughters. We don't have any relatives in England, so my daughters were very lonely. Finally we decided to move back to our country. Things are much better here. It's been two years now, and I never want to go back to England. Alhamdullillah Allah taal made it easy for me, I know everyone is not able to do the same. Many of my friends wanted to send their kids to Islamic school, but they couldn't afford it. May Allah taala protect our children from all fitnas. Ameen

There are different types of homeschooling in the USA, parents can do it but you need to request a public school district or state-based government department if you qualify then you can do it, you can hire someone online or in person, and public school districts offer free online homeschooling. It's something like this that we want to live in a water pound. But we don't want to get wet and also want to pretend that we are leaving on a dry land. In fact this is to make a balance between the financial earning and the religious norms and ethics. I always keep on thinking about it and come to the conclusion that this is quite a tough job to save generation if we will be successful to save one generation but definitely over next generation will be affected by it. And then the decision outer for hands and we have to suffer that.

West and Islamic culture and traditions are totally different from one another. If someone thinks that he can guide his child to Islamic ways of life specially after the age of puberty is very very difficult. I request who are living in the West to comments about my opinion.
