While I appreciate the opponent using Kuriboh, having no back row or cards in the hand usually spells bad things to come even before modern Yu-Gi-Oh.

Usually, but having Five Headed Link Dragon on the field even with nothing else is _usually_ a pretty strong board. Five Headed Link Dragon has almost near-perfect protection - it can't be destroyed by battle with an EARTH, FIRE, WIND, WATER or DARK monster and it's completely immune to card effects, plus it's kinda easy to summon for a Link 5 as it's generic and there's plenty of ways to flood the field these days. The only ways to get rid of it are to either somehow manage to attack over it with a LIGHT monster (doable, but deck specific and potentially very hard), Kaiju it, have Skill Drain already on the field (so it applies before FHLD's effect) and some form of removal, or hope that your opponent can't pay its end phase cost.

That’s pretty fortunate that he was able to get a LIGHT monster with enough ATK to go over Five-Headed Link Dragon. Because it’s not just a Towers, it’s a Towers that can’t be destroyed in battle by non-LIGHT monsters.

Yugi would still win unless he doesn't have the millennium puzzle. The millennium puzzle grants the holder extraordinary luck. Atem only ever lost a total of 3 times. Once by forfeit, once during the seal of oricalcos, and once more during his final duel with Yugi. Losing to Yugi in the final duel is lucky when you think about it. If Atem won there then he wouldn't be able to go back home, and he was just about to win against Yugi until the very end. Also it was kinda lucky when he lost to Raphael because it was only after he lost Yugi that he then realized winning a game is far less important than losing a friend. Luck has been with him all of the time and sometimes losing can be lucky. As for the forfeit one it was kinda lucky too because if it wasn't for Yugi stopping pre oricalcos Atem then Kaiba would've been unalived back in season 1.

@@razo5567 I think he lost to joey as well because there was one deleted episode where joey needed to get red eyes back from yugi so I assume he either did very well or won the duel to get it back. cause joey said he get it back if he wins fair and square.

OK then. I actually thought that was a loss due to the fact. He had a brick hand and his opponent was able to use the caribou effect to summon one hell of a link but I did not expect that combo of a comeback with the hero deck.

You actually can read the cards. This is just a replay of a duel which is also fast forwarded. The actual duel wouldn't be as fast, but it can still be overwhelming since it's Yu-Gi-Oh at the end of the day.
