I had some wrong information in my Two For Tuesday video. Instead of taking the video down I am releasing this one along with it as a correction.

Thanks! I am still researching this. It seems like Boker is obscuring the origin of the knives on purpose. The true Solingen Germany made knives are obvious even with a quick look at the fit and finish. That said they are still good knives for the money.

The D2 ones are nice knives. Defiantly a step up in fit, finish, and materials.

Very informative Ken!! I only have 1 Boker and it’s old so this is great for people who are looking to pick them up!!

The real Solingen Bokers are pretty obvious. You can tell right away. These cheaper ones are what I am not 100% sure of and am trying to figure out. From the packaging and wording I get the impression that they are trying to keep it unknown. I think I have more questions about these than answers!

I have more questions than answers when it comes to these knives. I guess the main point is that they are not real Solingen Germany made knives.

The way these are marked and the wording on the box make it confusing. It sure seems like they do it on purpose.

Thanks for explaining the price difference. This is kind of like pistols such as my Browning Hi Power, it’s manufactured in Belgium but assembled in Portugal. More cost effective I assume.

That's exactly tly what it is like. The true 100% made in Germany Bokers have Solingin stamped on the blade.

I have a Rooster and Hen stag large stockman, that is tang stamped Solingen, Germany. It was a gift from my brother! Just wondering, if it was made in Germany? Fit and finish is top notch!

If they say Solingen on the tang, they are the real thing made 100% in Germany!

Very interesting. My boker brown bone jigged trapper is high carbon stainless. But the box i got it in says Made in Germany. Maybe mine was Germany but with the old china blades before they made the change to D2.

I have so many questions about these knives. Yours is yet another variation. I have a feeling that they are intentionally being vague about the origin of the knives.

Thank you for the info, it is very confusing where knives are made nowadays as it's all about sales and money of course. If I'm not 100 % sure it's USA or Germany , I just pass on them.

It still can be a little confusing. Boker doesn't tell us the details so we have to speculate a little. The bottom line is for it to be a real made in Germany Boker it must have Solingen stamped on the blade tang. Anything else is questionable and should be passed on.

Does the Chinese tang stamp have the tree? I think that might be the difference between the two Germany shields. The sourced has the tree? The wholly Chinese doesn't?
@LastChanceKnives
@LastChanceKnives Жыл бұрын
They have the same tang stamp. Boker and a tree. It looks like the same stamp was used on both versions. One difference though is the D2 blades have nail nicks that are twice as long as the high carbon stainless blades. Also the level of finish is up a notch on the D2 versions. Wherever they are made they are a decent value for the money spent. It would just be nice to know for sure!

@LastChanceKnives I was told at the Boker booth at Blade Show last month. If it says Solingen (on the sheild or tang,) it's a true Boker. If it says Germany, it's assembled in Germany from imported parts. The bit about the Tree was conjecture/curiosity on my part. In the past, knives wholly manufactured abroad fell under the Plus or Magnum umbrellas. As far as I'm concerned, the fact that we're even having these conversations is proof Boker is "messing" up

I understand (and you probably know this now yourself) the boker germany knives are like you say, parts from china assembled in Germany. Boker soligens are the legit parts in Germany and assembled in Germany. I got a older black jigged bone stockman that i learned the hard way with and though it is still well made i was a little mad that they were made from parts that were manufactured in china. I have since purchased a boker soligens club knife and i also have had for a long time a matching Boker USA stockman and camp knife my grandfather purchased in the mid to late 60s.

Thanks! In fact I just made a video this week showing 2 real Solingen Bokers that sums up the situation. The Chinese sourced ones are still good knives. I have found them to be a higher quality than Case, although Case's bone can't be beat,

@LastChanceKnives that I can agree with, the fit is great on the boker germany knives but the bone is a little bland and leaves something to be desired.
