My brother, who spent time in the pen for getting “gang affiliation”… all I’ll say but I will always remember him saying that the police will definitely offer you less time if you snitch, but you’re just signing a death sentence for either the head of a set to put out a hit on you either in prison or when you get out Because there is fluid communication between the streets and the penitentiary so whatever you do locked up is going to be put on blast in the streets and if you don’t snitch, you get respect and when you have respect you have protection and resources so overall snitching doesn’t help anybody because unless it’s a murder charge or something, the police likely already know what you’re gonna snitch on or who but they need validation you are the sacrificial lamb to them. The only person besides family that you talk to is an attorney of yours and even then just tread lightly. Granted, he didnt really have any kind of a memorable career, and his snitching didnt result in any big drama which is probably why isnt as known like most of these on the list. i want to give a little insights on the ysl case and gunna's plea. there's a few possible reasons the prosecution offered the plea in the first place 1: they weren't confident they could get a guilty verdict 2: they wanted to allocate more resources to other co-defendants 3: having a conviction of any type under their belt helps establish a pattern, even an alford plea 4: sew disunity among co-defendants and pressure them into taking worse plea deals what I don't think they did this for is his testimony of drugs and weapons being present in the vehicle as these are not crimes or minor crimes. prosecutors tend to offer these types of deals for information that will prove beyond a reasonable doubt the guilt of the defendant, gunna's testimony did not come close to doing this. (no truthful testimony could because the case is complete nonsense) most guilty pleas require the defendant to testify in some manner which would obviously be snitching and would do a lot more to strengthen the prosecutions case, the fact they didn't push for this harder and let him get out at all is telling. also - gunna being out there making music & money is overall good for the co-defendants imo, a lot better than him being locked in prison for the the entirety of history's longest clown trial and possibly even longer if the jury is a bunch of idiots. personally I think the prosecution is doing it to balance the number of co-defendants and they know they can't convict all of them, but we have to understand each time they did this another soul got to live free which imo clearly out weighs any harm they maybe did to thug's defense.
