I love this show. The comedic script is top notch as is the comedic cast. There seems to be a lot of comedians floating around in Ireland and they all seem to gravitate to doing rugby shows. You're only as good as your last game fellas. France and Ireland are inconsequential in this discussion. They were bundled out of the competition by the two teams who will be competing in the Grand Final. Give England their dues. They showed up tonight and almost won the game. Give the Boks their dues. They kept their heads, their experience players came through when it mattered and won the game. The uptight guy on the left and the silver fox guy are constantly referencing Ireland and France. Carrying on about how France and Ireland would have beaten the Boks if they played them last night. That ship has sailed lads. France and Ireland were supposed to win last week. England have reached 6 semi finals in 10 world cups, and four finals. Their DNA is forward domination, as it was in the 2003 side. Similar to South Africa they generally have larger more powerful forwards than other teams who can impact the game more. That is in the DNA of both of these teams, whereas teams like Ireland have tended to have to come up with a more expansive strategy because of the make up of the team. I don’t see it changing, as it hasn’t since the start of the W/C in 87. Don’t forget in 91 England reached the final, and were clear favourites because of their forward power and structured gameplan, however, they tried to change strategy for the final and play more expansively. Most reports from the time conclude that if they had stuck to what they were good at they would have won! I believe the variety of different strategies is what makes the game do interesting, and only given day one approach can prevail! As a further point England have made it to 9 quarter finals (Ireland have made 8) England have then go on to 6 semi finals! Out of the Northern hemisphere sides England and France are the only teams to consistently compete in the later stages of the World Cup. So maybe the strategy is not too bad!

It is exactly the same rugby the Springboks were playing back in 2018 when Rassie Erasmus took over. Strong set piece with accurate kicking and a good solid defence. Look at where the Springboks are now. You can only play good rugby once the basics are strong. English basics are getting strong and they will develop it into better running rugby. Considering EVERYONE wrote them off and where playing poor, they still proved that England are the best team in the Northern hemisphere in world cup tournaments.

The Irish presenter Joe Molloy loves sticking the boot into England - he's resident cheerleader at On The Ball which, for the uninitiated, is an Irish pseudo-propoganda channel that makes North Korean state TV seem balanced and objective. England did what they had to do to compete here, Borthwick had little time to prepare this side and took over a shambles as Eddie downed tools towards the end of his time. And besides which, comparing them to Ireland is daft; the Irish structure is geared towards success with the provinces synchronised and managed centrally. The English structure is nothing like that. And yet they still went further than Ireland and have done at every World Cup. Molloy and Matt Williams talk like Ireland are the All Blacks; decades of dominance behind them. Ireland have won a few GS and a tour in NZ, but these boys are getting really carried-away here. We'll see what happens to England but I woud not count on Ireland continuing to be succesful and Molloy like the little ginger one on OTB should rememebr that as they've clearlh not learnt from previous occassions where they've had egg on their faces.
