@@ginettechiverton7113 they got in the way of the guards who were going off duty. During the changing of the guard or the Punishment Parade, no one is allowed to stand in front of the white lines or to leave the courtyard until the changeover or parade has finished.

Well our blinking must be in sequence buddy cos i didn't see Sir nor madam either ? Maybe Mr and Mrs are actually invisible? Slipped in to the guard room with out any one ,especially the useless camera man actually seeing them ? Maybe Mr camera man would can show us all what the f planet your on ? Mars? 😂

They walked right past the BIG BLACK HORSES oblivious to the world around them. What ruddy fools! Just the kind who would sue if they got hurt! Where were the police? 4 of them did zip!

think they came from the office. The gentleman was wearing a suit and carrying a briefcase. They werent tourists.

I’m not sure of the police’s job distinction. Perhaps they’re only there incase of criminal acts, they don’t seem to do much else.

Technically in the UK the correct way for a police officer to address a dodgy looking individual is "OK sunshine, what do you think are you are a-doin' of?" And the correct reply from any service personnel to a comment or instruction from a senior officer is "SAH!" We don't pronounce the R at the end of words like "sir" in England.

Not in the RAF. I have heard officers reply to airman when Sah! is used 'sir..we are not in the Army' :)

@Christian S. You live and learn. I had an uncle in the RAF but never heard responding to a senior officer. It probably didn't happen very often as he was a Wing Commander and I only ever met him at family parties.

That is interesting; the officer's (?) spurs are much lower that the Troopers spurs. Is that because of his trousers? Do the metal helmets and swords remain at Horse Guards once the soldiers leave the military?

The officers spurs are a different type that are either secured by a hole at the back of the heel or by a modification and screwed to the side of the heel. The troopers spurs are attached with leather straps. No the uniform is issued the dsme as the rest of their kit and is returned once they leave or transfer to armoured. Officers have the option to buy their own sword.

@@paulthebutler Thank you for the information. Is there a book that discusses the uniforms? I have a great series from University of Kansas on US Cavalry uniforms through history.I find uniforms very interesting.
