Great video as usual and a good filter! I have one in my Red Sea Reefer 350 and it works well for the most part, I've had the waste roller sleeve slip but a bit of super glue and that was resolved. No modification to the sump itself, I just made a bracket out of some .220 acrylic. It's a bit rough but it works, I am currently working on re-designing the bracket and printing it on my 3D printer in ABS.

Thx for the update, I didn’t think so, without allot of modifications, the openings and the 1 1/2” needed to activate the sensor, Red Sea reefer only has 1/2” overflow!!

I can say when I first saw these on your site I was super excited. Seems like the perfect option for me to replace my socks with. I've been waiting for a good video on them from you guys and this one did answer some of the questions. I'd really love to see a far more in-depth video on them and see you address some of the reviews I've seen on your site about them not rolling up properly or the fleece breaking etc. I really want to buy a pair... but I just don't have good enough information to do that at this point.

There are two other fleece filters I'm aware of and one is available now, called the Clarisea. There's another in Europe in development called the Xfilter, which is very interesting. It's not just a sock replacement filter, but because it uses very small micron fleece, it's also being touted as a nutrient reduction method. The designer says typical particulates in the water are as low as 9 micron (the Klir is 50). So the filter pulls most of the particulates before they can break down. There definitely is more info needed on these units as a whole, but a step in the right direction for less maintenance.

So far from the R2R forum we've determined that 2 Klir's will fit inside a Trigger 39 sump. The only modification would be to take out the removable sock tray and make a new one from a small acrylic sheet from Home Depot. The Trigger 20 cube sump requires widening the top opening to fit the Klir in and the tray swap as well. No word on the Trigger 34. I was hoping that they would've taken most popular sumps into consideration instead of just their own Icecaps. Who wants to have to permanently alter their beautiful, and expensive, sump? It is what it is. I'm waiting for the next revision that addresses most of the common problems before investing in 2 of these with my Trigger 39. But it's a step in the right direction over filter socks for sure. 😀

My tank came with a built in wet/dry sump that I hate but can't remove. Either way, I'm wondering if maybe I removed the bio balls that the water drains over, could I install one of these with the bracket there? Would it be effective since it would only be capturing a fraction of the water? (I'm not sure if it would be actually capturing any though, as the water level sits pretty low.

I been running these since they got released . I was very excited but after running for a while now there are still flaws. Going to have to modify the two I have to be able to make them run without problems.rolls bind up and optical don't always work correctly.
@UnfilteredJustice
@UnfilteredJustice 5 жыл бұрын
While I don't own one of these, a lot of folks on the forum suggest having the optical sensor facing the less turbulent side of the incoming water, away from the turbulence that can cause the sensor to misread water levels. But I agree, a revision shouldn't be far off, lol.

Any idea if there are any roller mat systems that would work in any of the nuvo fusion tanks? Being that these style tanks all have the filtration on the back of the tank rather than a sump, it would be nice to get rid of the filter socks. Thank you

I would love something like this that fits my Nuvo 40. The maintenance on the filter socks drive me nuts because the only time I have for maintenance of my tank is on Sundays and I have a million other things to do like cook clean house and do laundry for the week before working a hundred plus hours during my work week. Have we seen anything in the works for the AIO crowd?

firedustflame That may be true but I personally would pay double/triple to not have to swap socks every few days and clean them.
@ryandoolittle4412

The point of the rollers isnt cost; it is time invested in maintenance. The biggest problem our tanks is reefers habits to start letting regular maintenance slide after a long period of time, especially when the tank is doing well or life gets busy. These rollers are designed to be maintenance free for the majority of the time. The designer stated his original prototype needed to have floss rolls changed every 3 months on his 200 gallon large fish system. So for us reefers maybe that is every 2 months we put in a new roll and every 6 months we give it a quick vinegar bath to keep it operating smooth. I will also add there is alot of hidden costs in socks we dont see such as power consumption and bleach to wash the socks as well as dechlorinator such as prime if you decide to go that way. Not to mention having to change wet socks every 2-3 days which makes a mess no matter how careful you are. Plus you have to store wet socks for a week or 2 or 3 until you get enough to make washing them worth while. If you only have a couple and wash by hand this takes alot of time as well. Personally I am waiting for the 7 inch to come out and will be putting one in my sump.

Two Klirs will fit in a Trigger 39 but you need to take out the removable sock tray, because the 3 holes don't line up, and make your own 2 hole tray to stick in there instead. You can check out Reef2Reef and look for the thread titled "Thoughts on the Klir Filter." Another user shows pics of 2 Klirs in his 39 and the only mod needed is to replace the tray.

@@retroreefs7986 Home Depot, for example, sells a 20 x 32 inch acrylic sheet for $19. Though I think you may need the Klir(s) beforehand as a template of sorts to make a perfect cut. Some water may bypass the unit, but nothing significant. Good luck 😀

great idea, but this product was its truly a piece of garbage!! this piece of equipment has been my worst reefing experience of 2021. literally every single part was defective. this was the last time, will never purchase another coralvue product ever again since they don't care at all about quality control. kinda surprised BRS still sell this considering the massive amount of issues the majority of its purchasers have experienced.
