Bonjour !
I have been wanting to make this video for so long and today I finally found the time to sit down to record some footage and edit the footage that has been sitting on my camera since October!
In this video I share my 3 favorite places where I find my brocante and French vintage items. Hope you find it useful!

Loved this episode. I live in New Jersey but I was born and raised in New York. We usually see house sales and yard sales here in the States. Btw, your non-native English is better than most Americans’ English. Thank you for your vlogs!

I am watching all your videos as I only found your channel 2 mths ago. I am from a small town on Vancouver Island BC Canada. I love Thrifting & have done a fair share of buying & selling, especially because I have lived in 4 provinces from the east to the west. We have a few charities in the area a small one better than the rest. So far my best find was at a yard sale: an antique handmade patchwork quilt that I researched & it was made in 1900s in Wisconsin & valued by a museum curator at $1000 - I paid $20. I usually look for linens, sewing stuff as I am a maker. In also like tins, baskets, and many of the things you show. Today I bought 75 skeins of embroidery thread for $17 and the price at the fabric store would have been $90 (1.30 ea) I also bought a smaller lap quilt, beautiful work & fabrics $30. You do have to go often as it is becoming more popular.

My find is a large print of a hefty couple sitting with their basket of bread, cheese and wine admiring the vineyard. A colorful piece and I love it! I found at a thrift store. Our second hand items can be found at estate sales, second hand stores, also called thrift stores or antique shops or vintage shops or flea markets. I'm from Southern California.

USA, Texas, we have garage/yard sales that has every and anything for sale, flea markets which has antiques and other stuff and estate sales where items are sold at full price the first day and over a 3-4 day sale prices will be reduced by a % moving on to the final day. I can say that I enjoy being with you when you shop. I love seeing French merchandise.

I am watching you from Florida, U.S.A. There are many ways to get used items. Thrift stores are run by charities and keep regular store hours. They must be like your Emause. Everything is donated. Yard sales here can be a single family or a group of families selling their own possessions from their yard or their driveway. These are usually advertised by hand written signs posted on street corners and only last for a few hours on a weekend. Estate sales are usually held when someone passes and their family wants to sell everything in the house (and garage and barn). These are often arranged by professionals and will be well publicized. They may last one or two days or more. They are usually held in the house to be emptied. Estate auctions are run by professional auctioneers. They are well publicized. People bid on the items one at a time. They are sometimes held at the auctioneer’s warehouse but sometimes held on-site if the estate is a big farm with lots of buildings full of stuff and machinery, etc. Sometimes the house is auctioned too. Antique Markets are large stores (often housed in big old grocery store buildings) where many antique dealers set up their own booths and shoppers can roam up and down the isles visiting dozens of booths. The dealers are seldom present. If you find something you like you take it to the central desk where you pay, and the money is then paid to the correct dealer. The dealers pay to rent booth space and their displays are permanent. These places keep regular store hours. Of course there is eBay for on line sales. Probably many other sites. Facebook Marketplace is very popular and most things there are offered at very reasonable prices. Some communities sponsor online sites where everything is free. You state that you have something, someone responds that they need it, you put it out on your porch, and the shopper comes and takes it away. Or you can state you need something and others will tell you they have it and where to come get it. These are very local. In some places it is common to just place unwanted items out near the street, or actually in a dumpster or trash pile, especially on trash pickup day, and passers-by can take what they want. People call this “dumpster diving”. They drive around the neighborhood looking at what people are discarding. My best deal was at a regular Thursday night auction at an auction house where I used to live in Texas. I used to go there often. I once bid on a “box lot”. This was a box of miscellaneous kitchen junk. I paid $5 for the whole box of stuff. I had gone through it before the auction started, and I’d seen there were two sterling silver plates in it amidst all the junk! They were so tarnished that apparently no one else noticed they were sterling. I was the only bidder. Five dollars for sterling! Woo!

In 1980 I found a box of Jadeite dishes under a table at a garage sale for four dollars when I lived in Minnesota. Another find was a set of Jadeite set of mixing bowls for twenty-five dollars. My Mother and daughter went garage sailing in my neighborhood and bought a wicker buggy for ONE dollar. Now that was an Amazing Find! I now live in North Dakota, USA on 21 acres of Land and Love living out in the country.

Yes I saw what you found in the US in your video! You can Google for “friperie” or “fripes” in Aix en Provence, that is what they call a second hand / vintage clothing shop here. I just searched for that in Google maps in Aix and you seem to have quite a few nice ones in your area!

Watching from Mesa, Arizona and enjoyed all of the different ways to shop in France for treasures. My favorite story is of a vintage French Provincial tall dresser that I saw at a local thrift store. It was marked $14 and I took the price off and stood in front of it until they could roll it to the cashier for me to pay for it. That dresser was coming home with ME. Everyone was looking at the dresser and I kept saying, it's sold, it's mine. Right place at the right time, what a find that was. Clearly a $300 or more piece.

Watching from the Philippines. Just like your family, our family decided to move to our farm (conveniently 30 mins away from the city) and the shifting tune has been so good for the family. I've been wanting to shop in a thrift store for furnitures but unfortunately, we don't really have them here so i end up having this ha custom made and for China dishes and cups, i end up buying from abroad which can be a but pricey. I hope there's one (thrift store) I can find here.

Greetings from SW Colorado, USA.....my BEST find was at a Habitat for Humanity store, a group that builds homes for low income families and the families share in the "sweat equity" by helping with the building of their home. Owners secure a mortgage and have a home for life. Shops are located in many cities across the United States and people donate kitchen cabinets, extra tile, wood, old plumbing fixtures, etc....in addition to antiques, old tables, chairs, bed sets. I purchased a beautiful antique Samovar from Russia.....including the tray that it sits upon....only $75. These sell for $1000 in many antique stores and I was thrilled to score this fun piece.

I went to a church sale/craft Fair in a town a few miles away from where I use to live in NY/United States, and the sale of vintage items I found a collapsible egg basket for $1. Of course I wanted it amongst many other items. Another Historical Flea Market in Madison Connecticut, I found nesting eggs for $5 each to put in my basket. Those were my favorite items. I now reside in North Carolina/USA, and the Thrift Stores here aren’t very good. Most are consignment shops, where I buy vintage item items.

That sounds great: alignment wellness. I am not part of an international organization but many people work in this field of personal development and growth with the concept of alignment. All may not use the same definition of it but I feel it is something that is getting more attention and I am so happy about that as I honestly feel the world would be an entirely different place if all beings would be as aligned with their purpose as they can be.

Tucson, Arizona USA, estate sales is when someone has died, garage sale is a house cleaning, thrifting is at a second hand store , flea markets are open air or can be indoor markets usually a mix of junk and treasures, priced relatively cheap, then you have your vintage and higher priced, more curated antique stores or boutiques, specialty shops. i am probably leaving something out but that's a general explanation.
