I agree there is something blaringly wrong here! I mean come on! I can't wrap my head around how no one was acknowledging the obvious fact that this guy was not a 15 year old kid. They could not look any different! No one batted an eye at the fact that he was constantly covering his face and that he had an accent and that bullshit story about his eye color changing come on! I defiantly think that this family did something to that kid. The detective that was looking into the case was saying he could tell this guy was imposter by his ears. HIs ears were not the same as Nicholas. How about everything was different in every way! Why did they not give this guy a DNA test?? That would of answered the question right from the beginning. Why did they not make him take off his mask and all those clothes he was hiding under. The reason that was never done was two part, the authorities dropped the ball. They were not doing their job! Second the family was in on this sham. I just wonder how this con artist has been able to get away with this over and over again and the guy was set free and is able to go on and live a normal life like nothing happened. I just wonder if any one is actively looking for this boy. Dose anyone care what happened to him? I think there is a reason the brother was distant when this con artist came around. He did something to that boy and he obviously felt some shame about that. He didn't want to take part in this charade and then he killed himself. I find that just a little telling! I hope that someone looks in to this case and uncovers what happened to this boy! I think the way he was treated in life was disgusting and the way he's treated in death is even worse!

This is reminding me soooo much of an SVU case. A girl went missing after having a fight with her sibling. Then she just shows up a few years later. Looks totally different but has the same tattoo. The mom & sister she had a fight with are instantly suspicious & not excited to see her. Later it is found out that the girl was killed by her sibling & the mom knew. They decided to just accept the imposter because it was easier than the truth. This has to be the case that episode was based on.

Blondie B finally someone said it. I was searching for a video that would actually be dedicated about what happened to nicholas. I know this whole imposter thing is crazy and I don't get it either but it's just so sad that it seems like the actual missing child has been forgotten. It makes me so upset. Other cases have so much info on what the actual missing person did, who might have seen them, when they were seen last etc.. but none of that was ever discussed in this case..

Mareike Mareike Some great channels are Danelle Hanan, LordanArts (John Lordan), and also Cayleigh Elyse (these are just a few I've found) They all seem to really care about the cases that they research and have such compassion for the victims and their families, its palpable in their videos that they put the videos out for the right reasons. To give a voice for cases that have gone unsolved and forgotten. Everyone of these cases (these victim's stories) deserve respect and not to be forgotten until they are solved. The victim and their families and friends are what truly matter. Some families watch these videos, I can't imagine if my family members story was overshadowed by something like that. It's so sad and upsetting as you said.

Either she was so traumatised by Nicholas’ disappearance that she convinced herself that it was him even though subconsciously she must’ve known it wasn’t… it sounds crazy but the brain is a very complicated organ and some people are so desperate for something to be a reality that they can convince themselves it it true…OR she was trying to cover up for the fact she knew whatever had really happened to Nicholas.

After about 2 weeks, he was tracked because he entered a skate competition in fucking BARCELONA. I live in the uk btw. still don’t know how tf he did it baring in mind he doesn’t have an allowance/ job and no money was missing from the house.

my theory is that the brother killed him and the mom covered it up to protect her son. im not sure whether or not the sister is in on it too. but i think thats why they took the imposter in so willingly because they wanted to cover their story and not look guilty. i feel like they easily would've been able to tell it wasnt Nicholas. and if that was my son i would have made him take a DNA test to make sure it truly is my son.

I think that Nicolas did drugs with them and he could of overdosed and they covered it up disposed of the body. and my gut tells me i am right for some reason. I am glad my life did not spiral out of control to a point I did not kill anyone. or die of an over dose.

Cover what story? The boy had been missing for 3 years. No one cared about him missing. The police probably had this case amongst the bottom of priorities. There was zero evidence of his family having anything to do with his disappearance. There were no allegations made against the family members. They had no reason to try and find ways of covering up a story and not feeling guilty.

My theory is Nicholas was killed by his brother Jason & his mom and Carrie knew about it. I believe they killed him because he was a serious problem child and got fed up with it. They pretended he ran away or was missing. When they got the call that there son was found they was surprised but didn’t want to look suspicious, so still went to see their “brother”. They also used this as an opportunity to cover up Nicholas death. They got Fredrick on board with what was going on and he went along with it because he was addicted to impersonating people.

I work in childcare, and there are some very very difficult children that stress me out and can ruin my day, but at the same time I can’t get too annoyed because you never know how their life is outside of school, and what they are seeing and learning at home. It breaks my heart to think a child could be getting abused at home and then coming to school and lashing out at everyone.. the biggest reason I got into childcare was to make the children happy and give them a good day before they had to go home to whatever they had to go home to...

I found this case probably one of the most interesting. The whole issue with that guy stealing the identities of lost children, is like a whole other story within itself. I believe that the mother and brother either killed the boy himself, or they hired someone to do it for them. I...Just... HOW did this even happen? Ok, let's just assume the family is in on this and remove them from the situation.. HOW and WHY did everyone ELSE go along with it? I mean it's a 23 year old french guy with dark brown hair, brown eyes and an OBVIOUS European accent trying pass for a 15 year old white boy with blonde hair, blue eyes and an American accent.. Not to mention their facial structure is totally different.. I really just cannot wrap my head around ANYONE believing this. I bet you the entire time he was in America, Bourdin was just utterly shocked that he kept actually fooling everyone with his totally bogus "abuse" story and the fact that he looks NOTHING like Nicholas.. This makes me wonder exactly how many idiots are employed by our government when the freaking FBI is fooled by a guy claiming some mysterious chemical turned his eyes from blue to brown and that he was literally tortured into forming a Spanish accent.. How I ask you? HOW!? It's honestly laughable when you step back and look at this whole situation. I am more concerned with the complete incompetence of the Spanish and American governments than I could ever be with Frédéric Bourdin.

There is absolutely no way in hell you would not recognize your child or sibling. No. Way. I do believe the family had something to do with it because they couldn’t be “oh that’s not Nicholas. Nicholas is dead” which is why I believe they let a stranger in their home. It not only covered their asses. It might just be dumb luck they never got caught because they don’t seem that intelligent. There is a similar case of a missing child in my town from the 90s as well and all clues lead to the brother. He either killed himself or he was killed in jail. He was in jail for unrelated crimes. Robbie Romero has never been found. A teen came forward around 2012/13ish thinking he was Robbie Romero so that’s why I say it’s similar. If you ever have time please look into it and do a video I always wonder what happened to him.

The family aren’t being completely honest, throughout the documentary the mother honestly does not seem upset at all and just says that he’s a problem child. It’s also like the wanted Frederic to be Nicholas - like they were hiding something. The whole thing just seems very, very strange. Like even when the FBI said that they had concerns that it was not Nicholas they still acted as if he was; even when they went “this is not Nicholas.” Yeah, it’s a very strange case. Absolutely shocking, I can't imagine what sort of people would do all this. As a lawyer myself and having taken criminology and psychology courses, I love watching these kind of videos, and drawing my own conclusions. In this case, my conclusions are: 1) Nicholas had a criminal record back in the US so that means the state police had his fingerprints and other data. Why didn’t the police in Spain check his fingerprints to cross-reference them with the data the US police had? They could have saved a lot of money in investigations. 2) After reading about how Nicholas’ family reacted, I think they definitely know what happened to him (at least Jason and his mom), especially because I think they could have easily recognized this guy wasn’t his son.

This story is so strange and makes me think, what if some "missing" people that were "found" are actually frauds?

Briseida B im pretty sure they have to do DNA tests.. you cant just accept someone into your home thinking they were the missing person from your family

Hollie Parsons you can actually color your're hair and change your're eye color, and if a person lives in another country for years, which isn't his/her home country, i know that the accent will change after years(;

Say the mother or son did kill him. Which is the reoccurring theory. They know what happened to him. They know he’s dead. It’s spine chilling to think that some absolute stranger walks in to take their murdered sons place, and they willingly take him in.

I definitely think his brother had something to do with if and possibly his mother. They couldn't outright say, "we know it isn't him because we killed him/sold him."

Idk which is weird, the fact that the guy who claimed that he’s Nick has had at least 500 false identities or Nick’s mother who just went on with it even though she knew it wasn’t his son. Anyways, you guys should check out The Imposter. Great case, Bella!

So the police just closed the case?! Its like Nicholas the victim was completely forgotten about. So sad & heartbreaking. Just a 13 yr old child that nobody seems to care about or what happened to him. I hope & pray that the truth comes out & Nicholas finally gets the justice he deserves. He would've been 40 yrs old now. As a mom it just breaks my heart.
