That whole thing with your RV "falling apart," I am NOT surprised!!! RVs and travel trailer ("white boxes") aren't made to withstand the "driving an earthquake" experience of full-time RVers. I read an article recently that says MOST "white boxes" are built to last through about 40 trips .... a LOT less than full-timers go. That's why I am fond of the bus RVs, some of the vans and anything that's "built like a car" rather than an RV. They seem to be much more durable and can stand up to full-time nomad life better.

I thought my car was in park, I stepped out and was hit to the ground by my door somehow. When I fell my back tire ran over my right foot. I was shocked and didn’t know if I was hurt. I had to be, right! I saw my car driving away towards a lake in a subdivision. I stood and ran, car door open I grabbed the steering wheel to jump in and stupidly turned the car. Now heading into a house. I got in and slammed the gearshift into park because I was half in the car and would’ve hit a house. I have heart problems and I am also on blood thinners. I did have to go to the ER. Foot and ankle badly bruised, but otherwise okay. The heal/sole of my winter boot took the weight of the car. I double check and wait a couple of seconds when I’m in park, but car is still running before I get out. Glad you are okay! I’ve watched you since the beginning.

File my story under Bonehead instead of scary. I was in the middle of nowhere South Dakota and suddenly a rock came up and hit my windshield. A few minutes later, I noticed a huge starburst crack. Not knowing when a crack turns into a windshield disintegrating into scattered crystals, I immediately rerouted myself to a city (hours away). I drove praying that my windshield wouldn’t shatter before I could get there. I finally pulled into the windshield place and the attendant came out. I explained I’d probably need my whole windshield replaced as I didn’t think he could just patch it. The old guy looked at my windshield, pulled out a handkerchief and wiped off the “crack”. Turns out a huge insect of some kind had splatted on my windshield in an amazing starburst pattern. NO cracks, no nicks, but my embarrassment. And relief.

I'm 62 and still laugh with my sister over this. In the early 1970s, we were camping in Yosemite with our parents in a pop-up camper. There had been bear alerts. My sister and I one night heard a bear outside the camper. In urgent whispers, we told mom there was a bear outside. After a moment, mom informed us it was our dad snoring and go to sleep. My sister and I nearly hurt ourselves trying not to laugh on our side of the camper. 50+ years later, we still remember that "bear" incident. 😂❤

Oh, that's hilarious. I have an unofficially adopted sister (her mommy passed when she was 18, so we "adopted" her) whose Dad didn't want to admit that when in the middle of the night he left the tent to go to the men's bathroom, he tripped on the tent stakes, ripped down a tarp, and knocked over the Coleman stove and stand! So, he told them (her brother and herself) it was bears!!! I still have a difficult time getting her to camp in the high country!!! 😅

I rolled into a free campground s.e. of Sedona, Arizona. As I drove through the camp there were some really scuzzy looking people checking me and my truck out. My gut said let's get out of here so I drove into Sedona and got a spot at a privately owned campground. I picked up a local newspaper 2 days later and read about someone getting murdered in that free campground the same day that I had left it. Always listen to your gut feelings. When we were newlyweds in the early 70's we went tent camping frequently because we had little money. From CT to CO for a wedding we alternated camping and motels. One night was on a reservation in New Mexico, in a beautiful canyon. The sites were well spread out so we hardly saw other campers. We locked our food in the car, changed into non-food-smoked clothes to sleep, worried about the warnings of bears that sometimes came down to rifle the garbage cans. In the middle of the night we heard sniffles and snuffles around the tent and we lay quiet as stones. In the morning we discovered we were surrounded by cows!!! The reservation herds graze in the area! Terror and humor in a matter of hours!

My husband and I were tent camping in the LBJ Grasslands one week when automatic weapons were firing off very near us. My husband belly crawled out of the tent fired off two rounds and the other gunfire suddenly stopped and changed directions. We later found out the National Guard was running paramilitary practices. There were literally bullets ricocheting off the trees around us. That was in the mid 80’s. Haven’t camped there since.😵‍💫

So, last fall, at the age of 70, I was parked in my son's driveway near Lake Tahoe for a two-week visit. I went to sleep in my RV with a mild sore throat, something I've not experienced since before the pandemic, as I pretty much stayed away from everyone. I woke up about 4:00 am short of breath and feverish. They say that when your body is deprived of oxygen, you don't think straight, due to your brain and all vital organs not getting enough air (hypoxia). Well, this shortness of breath bordered on a panic attack, so I went to the bathroom and collapsed back into bed, thinking I just needed to rest and then call a doctor when it got a little later. Since the beginning of the pandemic, I have had a pulse oximeter, which I keep in my trailer because I have read that hypoxic people get confused, and so it is a good idea to measure your oxygen saturation should you feel short of breath in order to take any guesswork out of whether you should go to the ER or not. Perfect oxygen saturation would be 100%. Most people measure between 95-100%. Anything below 90% is deemed an emergency, and you should go immediately to the ER. Mine measured 81%. I vaguely noted that I would have to tell the doctor when I saw him or her. I crawled back under the blanket and went back to sleep. Four hours later, when my son came out to check on me, he immediately stuck me in a car and drove me to the hospital. I was admitted and spent the next week in the hospital, recovering from the heart attack caused by me not being able to take in the oxygen my heart needed, and fighting non-Covid related viral pneumonia. Lesson: If you are severely short of breath, assume you are not capable of making a good decision.

My husband and I, along with 2 other friend couples, volunteered for a season with the National Forest Service outside of Custer, SD at their Teepee Work Center location. That whole time was wonderful, and I would highly recommend working for them if you get the chance. One rather frosty Sunday morning, we were having breakfast when we hear sounds of a lot of cattle coming our way. We went outside to find a cattle drive moving up the road, complete with cowboys on horses. They were bringing the herd to pasture on Forest Service land close to us. We really felt like we'd stepped back into the 1800s. Truly a cool experience...

Probably the worst adventure I had was driving down a mountain in Colorado with my mom, and it started snowing and sleeting. I started slipping. I downshifted and went as slow as I could, but could only tap the brakes. A pick up truck pulled in front of me and at first I was annoyed, but he stayed with me the whole way down the mountain and I realized he was watching over me, ready to help if I needed it. We finally made it down and he went on his merry way (I assumed it was a he?). That was one white knucke ride! We both definitely needed a drink when we got settled for the night. I was raised and lived most of my life in Hawai’i. When we moved to Washington state, I was so excited to begin RV’ing. We bought a small inexpensive travel trailer…you know, just in case we didn’t like camping. We managed in the middle of the summer to get a one night stay at a lake front camp ground, advertising lake views and large beautiful camp sites. When we arrived, we were in a circle camp area . Every site was big and lovely and occupied. Kids were playing and bicycling, people bbq’ing. Dream come true! Then we pulled up-to our site. First off, it was the smallest site in the whole circle. Second, it was sandwiched between two huge Class A’s. Because we were newbies, it took us 1.5 hours to completely set up camp. We had planned to turn our chairs to the lake, but the view was covered over with bushes. There were a ton of mole hills and gigantic tree roots coming up in our seating area. We had to put twigs and rocks under our chair to level them. We had just sat down, each with a beverage, when a wasp starting buzzing around us attracted to the smell of the liquor. It flew right in front of my husband’s mouth, so he exhaled and blew at the wasp, but then immediately inhaled after and sucked the wasp into his mouth. Before he spit the bee out, it had managed to sting him in the tongue. After accessing the damage, we both kicked up our feet, took a big drink, looked out at the other campers and almost at the same time said “I love this”. We have ‘t experienced anything like you have Robyn, but so far the high points definitely outweight the low ones.

I have a storey similar to your last one. I was in my brand new motorhome, following my brother who was pulling his 5th wheel. I desperately needed a bathroom break, so I called Steve and asked him to find a place to pull over. He found a grassy spot on a down-hill slope. I pulled in behind him, shut off the engine, popped up off my seat and headed for my bathroom. But something felt weird so I looked out the window, and there I was rolling downhill towards Steve's 5th wheel. Jumped back in my seat, put my rig into Park and put on the emergency brake. I did NOT tell him I almost hit him!

It was like 47 years ago, and my sisters,a friend, and I went to a church camp up at Summit Lake ,Pennsylvania. We decided to skip a class and hike up the mountain. We were near the top and heard a sound. I yelled bear and we all began running down the mountain. Stopped when my sister said, why are we running? We turned to the right and saw a cow, who moved and we all started laughing. My preacher told that story several times in church after that. Also used it to stress why you should not skip church classes.

Back in 1996 I was out camping in an RV with my family on Madeline Island (only accessible via the ferry on Lake Superior). Well we get out to the island in the early afternoon and drive around looking for a campsite. Turns out there weren't any spots available for camping because of the amount of people on the island. So we were forced to just set everything up in a parking lot over night. It wasn't the best choice in the world, but we were in an RV, they happened to have the hookup for electricity and water right there and the bathrooms were just feet away. At that point the only thing we noticed was a big dumpster sitting just 10ft away from the RV. My parents figured the only problem with it would be the smell. NOPE! Cut to the middle of the night and a few of us get up to use the bathroom. I am the first to get myself ready to walk out of the RV, so I open the door and walk down the first step. I'm hearing something rummaging through the dumpster and think it's probably just raccoons. My eyes adjust to the dark and I suddenly realize it's not a bunch of raccoons, but in fact was a giant bear looking for food! It turned around, looked at me and I ran back into the RV. That thing was friggin' MASSIVE (especially compared to me)!!! We stayed inside the RV for a good 10 or so minutes to make sure the bear had left. Once it did, we proceeded to go to the bathrooms and then head back to bed. It was my first time ever seeing a bear in person and that up-close lol. Definitely memorable!

My last trip as a trucker before going full-time Nomad was during a snow storm as I passed through Kansas into South Dakota. I was able to see 100 feet in advance, I was the only rig or car on the road, and it was not an interstate with lots of travelers. I pulled off when I saw a building that looked like a maintenance station for the state. I put out my makers to signal others of my rig so they would avoid trying to park near me. Then the snow and wind hit. I was shaken every 10 minutes for the entire night. I did not sleep but did close my eyes to rest. After the storm, the snow was drifted up over my wheels. My rig was a wind break for the building. When I finally was able to get out, I saw two cars parked on the other side of the building. Wow! Lucky for me that I chose to park on the other side. No body else was there until the state snow plows came through midday. Too scary for me to forget that one and I won't go into the midwest in the snowy winter ever again. LOL

Oh my, you overcame some horrendous challenges! My story is when I first got my 33 ft southwind, only been driving a week and that direction chick said turn Right here. Wrong! So I tried to turn around in an entrance to a private community and the corner of the guard shack sliced my dinette window, glass Everywhere right over my pups crates. And was protruding inside my RV. I could not figure out how to get unstuck so a guy said he would help me, but he took pictures first. Had to wait 2 weeks for window replacement and had trouble getting into a campground with temp plastic window. My cat said “see ya” never to be found. My 2 dogs stuck it out with me for next 10 years. Had an awesome time after that. But ya, ya learn how resilient and strong you are on the road. There is no other choice, just do it. Sorry for paragraph, I’m on phone. My name is also Robin.😊

👍🏻 Rocking RVs are scary !! I was staying just north of Ft Myers at brothers house taking care of my elder husband who was in the last stages of dementia. I hadn’t finished building out the rv bus, it was Sept 2022. Two days after my husband passed Hurricane Ian hit, my brother & I only had time to throw animals & animal supplies in the bus and haul ass to higher ground to escape a predicted 20ft storm surge. The eye of Ian, a cat 5 hurricane, literally went right over us. The first eye wall had us rocking & rolling a bit, but not too bad, we were thinking we were going to be okay, it helped that her bow was into the wind. During the eye we got out, let the dogs potty, and then as we saw back eye wall approaching we jumped back in rig and locked up. The second eye wall whomped us HARD, so I ran to the drivers seat to start rig and correct her position into the new wind direction. As I waited to start (diesel) the second whomp took off 2 of my solar panels & tossed them 100 ft into the trees, engine started, third whomp took last 4 panels & all the unistrut mounting hardware off roof & piled them up with the other 2. Finally could move her into the wind which lessened the whomps by a lot, we held on till the morning. Surveying the damage …..the bad news was I needed to replace the solar panels & hardware. The good news…. I had a wind rating (170mph) for my hardware that is faster than I’ll ever drive. 🤣. The solar has been replaced, but there is a scar over the door which I intend to paint in and label “Hurricane Ian 09/27/2022 Cat 5 “ 👍🏻😁 I’ve rapidly learned it’s all about resilience out here. 👍🏻

I do remember a few of your adventures…..I too have my share of scary, funny and uncomfortable stories with my rigs and 2 cats and 2 dogs. When my rig was 1 week old I pulled into a gas station and my front tire rolled under and I sat inside a Ford deal’s storage building for 6 weeks while they tried to get part to fix the unit. Found myself MULTIPLE time sitting in the floor clutching dogs and cats with 65 to 70 mph winds rocked the rig. You are right I have stories to tell and wonderful and frighten adventures…..I am ALIVE…at the ripe old age of 75 I have more adventures to live.

I like your hair right now. The rolling RV story, yikes! We were on the way to Florida with a friend who was drinking beer while driving. I was sitting a couple seats behind him on the other side. I looked up and he was on the way to the bathroom and nobody was driving, on the expressway with heavy traffic. Thank GOD it wasn't on a curve, I jumped up and took the wheel. Wow!

I remember that snowstorm! We lived in Colorado Springs at the time. It was shocking how many 18 wheelers and RVs turned over on the interstate. Thankfully, we were safe and warm at home then. So glad you and your RV survived! We had a few scary moments in our RV. The worst was the brakes going out as we exited the interstate going downhill into a T-junction. The exit had two lanes and there was a car ahead of us in each lane. Thankfully, the car in front of us pulled into the left lane and we were able to go flying around the corner to the right. Again, thankfully, the road there was empty and angled uphill so we rolled to a stop. My husband just put his head down on the steering wheel and kept saying, "Thank you Jesus..." over and over. Another trip, we got caught in a windstorm in the middle of nowhere with nowhere to pull over. The top layer of our aluminum roof rolled backward, a yard or so on the front and almost the length of the RV on the side. Eventually we came to a turn-off and were able to stop. Our adult son, who was with us, was able to climb onto the roof and flatten out the r oof and tie it down. We must have looked funny with rope tied to the mirrors and other places. But it held until we got back home a few hours later. Traveling in an RV has its scary moments, but it made travel affordable for us.

Turned the corner heading back to Quartzsite and my RV fealt weird, i looked out the driver side and saw my rear wheel sticking out from the fender, all of a sudden it came out further and then bang! My RV droped to the ground as my wheel went out into traffic with the axel attatched. Had to have it towed all the way back to Quartzsite for a new axel. Robin, I thought it was just me. You’re making my day. My RV vision from inception began with you. It was your encouraging words that helped me pull the trigger. After the adventures of flipping a house, I bought my Revel. Then in September 2022, I took my first long distance trip from Prescott, AZ to Taos, NM. With less than 3,000 miles on the rig, I had a similar experience to your Cabela story. While parked at a gas station in Taos, I looked up from the back of my rig and I saw a guy flying towards me with his 30 foot toy hauler. In disbelief, I thought, oh my God, he’s soooo close, oh my God, he’s going to hit me. Then, you know how things go slow-mo, he began to pass me and I thought I was safe…but in a heart beat I was picking myself up off the floor of the rig. The impact knocked me down when he side swiped 1/3 of the rig, including the closed awning being damaged. Took the rig to my dealer, Affinity RV, 4 times, averaging 2 weeks each drop off and they never even finished the insurance estimate. Ultimately, I had to drive 2 hours each way to begin some of the body work repairs and tomorrow, ten months after the accident, I’m making that long drive again for repairs round 2. Have to leave it there until the new awning arrives (ordered 4 months ago).

PS On my last trip to the Kentucky Derby, with my 2 golden retriever puppies, I opened the largest window (previously replaced by the dealer under warranty) and it fell out - perpendicular to the rig. I was parked in a RV park and ultimately after many excruciating hours police showed up to rescue me & the pups. They called a mechanic friend and it took 3 men to get the window back in. They secured it temporarily with electrical tape. Pups & I got some sleep and continued on to Lexington. There are a few more sagas but I kept thinking of your survival stories and how grateful I am that I’m not a full time nomad. The realities of flying solo and the tradesmen/supply shortages have not been a huge challenge. I’m 72 ….. think I’ve decided to sell my Revel within a year, after a few more road trips within my home state of AZ. God bless you and all the other women who have inspired me to blaze new trails :)

@@playhooky I was very blessed with a very compassionate Pueblo police officer. He said he knew how hard it was to even get a scratch on a new vehicle and that he could understand that this major damage would cause me to have a meltdown. So, he said that normally he’d just provide the accident form for the involved parties to fill out but he wanted me to help me out. I was so thrilled he completed the accident report. The other driver was at the gas pump for the officer to query. Still in the process of dealing with other driver’s insurance company. It’s been a long 9 months getting the rig repaired. Actually, Sunday I make the 2 hour drive for round 2 of the repairs. Thank you so much for caring & asking. Blessings

We parked overnight in a casino back lot off a ways from other work trucks and campers to spend the night in their cheap room for a shower. I saw from the 2nd floor balcony there were some bucket trucks (cherry pickers) parked over a width of a car and about the next row back. Next morning they were gone when we left and later that day when I walked to our camper from behind, I saw our ladder had been hit only up at the top on the curve on one side, bent and nearly ripped loose from the roof! We had not hit anything, but apparently that boom on that truck swung into the ladder when he turned to leave the parking lot. Thankfully it didn't rip off the top or side of our camper also. We right away got some super sealer and the ladder supported my hubby's weight to get up there to seal it.

1st year out, 32 ft Class C I bought a 2012 jeep to tow. Jeep came with all the tow stuff......Left rv camp in Fredonia Az .... 7 mi. down the road, I felt a jerk .....checked backup camera to see jeep go to the right.....My brain went NO! You are not supposed to do that! Jeep (Baby) was loose! I was going 65; 2 lane road with zero shoulder. Started braking to slow down and waited for the jeep to hit! Got stopped....jumped out to check out the aftermath! The pin had removed itself from the receiver and the stinger part of the Road master was pushed down the pavement by the jeep and like ruined! The jeep had landed into left side of bumper.....bent a little bit. No damage to jeep or rv. The cables kept the jeep attached.A nice couple in a pickup stopped to help (rvers). We removed the tow assy from the jeep. Got all turned around; he drove my jeep, she drove their truck, and I drove my rv. They led me to a shop they knew in Kanab Ut so I could order a new Road Master Falcon 2. Spent a week in Kanab waiting for the tow stuff! Lesson learned: locking pins on all connected parts!! I was sure glad I had replaced the junk receiver that came on my rv: new one I had installed is welded on!!

Mine was scary.. We were driving from Vegas to Long Beach CA. Stopped for the night at the Walmart in Barstow, CA around dinner time. Lots of RVs there. Went grocery shopping and after, saw a police car going through the cars in the parking lot few times over a 2 hours span, strange 🤔. Hubby said let me sleep late tomorrow morning (he was quite sick with a bad flu). 10:45 am next morning, I hear very loud shouting going on, thought it was truck drivers arguing. I look outside, no more than 30 feet from us, saw 4 cops on foot, one of them over a guy on the ground, told hubby, get up, something bad’s happening outside! 5 secondes later, shooting starts like coming right at us, I look for a safe spot in the RV.. went face down on the RV floor trying to be as small as possible.. hubby still in bed feeling shots were flying around him🥶. They were not of course (phew). Over 10 cops units arrived within 3 min. Hubby up, slides in, tow car prepared to go in 10 min max. Made our way to the exit, a cop was pulling the crime scene tape through the exit, looked at us, and decided to let us leave, phew. Cops were charged by a car, driver dead, one airlifted to hospital, 2 arrested. Are we still staying overnight at Walmarts? Yes we are, more attuned to various signs.. odds that this will happen again are quite low. Love our fulltime RV life😁

Great storytelling and bravery in this video and in the comments! We are “wannabe” full time rv’ers, currently only doing short adventures in our van. We did a 3 week road warrior cross-country trip for a wedding in May of 21. Lots of fun and stories, but the dumbest one was arriving home and pulling into our driveway and scraping the van’s entire side running board on the driveway gate. The gate is now repaired and reconfigured, but the scrape on the van remains to remind us never to let our guard down.

Our rig was parked on top of a cliff, long hike down to the nude beach with 2 friends. Went around the bend to other side of cliff. Enjoyed the day, upon return hike the super-high had oblitered the beach access forcing us to press our naked bodies against the rocky cliffside as we clung for dear life. Scratches be darned we finally made it and saw the water had climbed halfway up the 40 ft cliff, washing away near our rig. We climbed the now invisible stairs and got out of there. This cliff has since slid into the ocean many times. Whew! Narrow escape. 🥴

Oh Robyn! I loved your stories! I have been watching you for 6 years!! So one summer my parents and I were camping on the St Lawrence Seaway in a tent, and we had just set up camp because my Dad always drove until two fingers from the sun. So we are on some island campground on the locks and a tornado blew in. Dad puts us all back into the car with the sleeping bags, still rolled up. So I laid on top the rolled sleeping bags and while we were riding it out in the car and we saw a dome shaped tent with 5 people trying to hold it down as it was flying towards the shipping locks like a parachute. At that point my dad decided we were not losing our tent that way and drove the car right on top of the tent. He had to fix a pole the next day but we made it through I believe , if I remember correctly, it was an F3 tornado in a campground. As a side note- the locks operate all night so it was not a restful choice of campground. Thanks Dad 😂

The other story was much more scary. I was boondocking on top of a mountain outside Laramie WY. The wind started to pick up but I figured oh I will just finish working and then leave. Well, the wind got up to 80 mph and I was scared to death that I was going to be blown off the mountain. I barely got my 19 foot travel trailer hooked up so that I could leave. My maiden voyage with my first RV, a Class A 37' motorhome, there was a "series of unfortunate events.". First, like you, I had never even been inside an RV when I bought mine. The tech took me to the local grocery store parking lot to test drive because I was terrified! He made me back up too! Thankfully, I did fine and returned to the dealership and signed the paperwork. By the time I left the dealership for home, it was already dark out (it was December) and it was pouring rain. The two-hour drive home on a four-lane interstate highway was NOT fun. When I finally got home that night, my Jello legs gave way coming down the steps, which was okay because I had already planned on kissing the pavement anyway. I was SO glad to be home! Three days later, my mom and I, and our 2 dogs, left on our maiden voyage from Virginia to Myrtle Beach, SC for the Christmas holiday. It literally poured rain the entire time we were on the road. We made two stops to walk the dogs for about fifteen minutes each and one lunch break for thirty minutes. The RV park I had reservations at was quite a way away from "the beach" area. As it turned out, it was more like forty minutes away! The road sign on the main road showed the RV park down this one road, so I turned to follow the sign. Mom had the map and was trying to give me directions, but we were on a two-lane country road, barely wide enough for two cars, nevermind a big RV. Finally, forty-five minutes later, and six turns later, we arrived at the locked gate to the RV park. I sat there, almost in tears. Someone ran up in the pouring rain and wrote down the code to the gate on a piece of paper and held it up to the RV window! Thankfully, the code worked! Because it was after 7 p.m. when we arrived and the office closed at 5 p.m., we had to find our spot ourselves. We drove up and down the rows until we finally spotted our assigned spot and pulled in. Of course, it didn't dawn on me until the next morning that I should have backed in! It was raining so hard, we leveled the motorhome, walked the dogs, and went to bed. For the rest of our four-day trip, we missed a Christmas show that we spent $50/ ticket to see (no refund), the electric entry steps would not retract so we had to have a neighbor camper remove them, we had to buy a ladder to get in/out of our rig, the water hose that was SUPPOSED to be included in the sale was missing so I bought one at Dollar General and it flooded our camping spot, we got food poisoning from a not-so-reputable seafood restaurant, the locked door flew open when we were on the road and our ladder skidded across the road behind us, we got tangled up in a fatal accident on our way home and wound up boondocking at a Cracker Barrel for the night, and lastly, we ended up finding out the toilet leaked PROFUSELY and the dealership had to repair the leak and carpet, but it took them 6 weeks! I SOLD THE RV SIX MONTHS LATER, NEVER HAVING TRAVELED AGAIN. Now I'm in the process of getting a new-to-me Class C, but I'm having a terrible time trying to convince my mom that this time it will be fun!!!

I have a 1944 kit Companion. Small. But heavy. We were camping in the Bob and had gone into the tiny ranch town to swim in the city pool and shower. When we arrived back at camp we saw a griz scratching his back on a tree. They. Are. Tall. So we pulled in close to the camper door and went in thinking the bear would leave. Nope. An hour later we reversed back into van and went back into town. The next day we moved camp to the reservoir. Tons. Of. Mice. Extra weirdly crazy noise. Ick. Finally fell asleep. And high winds came up. After an hour it became silent for about 15 minutes. Then another hour of high winds. I was so glad that camper weighs a ton! It was a great summer. 🤣😍

Btw my husband was building a helicopter hangar nearby. So he had the truck unhitched from the camper.

Find out the direction of the wind and park facing it. That will give you confidence that you won't tip over. As the storm progresses so might the direction of the wind so leave room to change direction. Opening the doors then wont destroy them. Situational awareness is king.

At this moment I am living the free national forest campsite gunfire nightmare. And I had that wild wind-trailer almost tipping over and truck door almost blown off hinges 6 months ago. Two years of this is getting to be about enough.

Maybe it's nothing to worry about. I hike a lot in public lands wuth my dogs and that tends to be where people go to shoot off a few rounds 'for fun'. I often hear gun and rifle shots, but in many decades of hiking, it's never been a danger.

I have a crazy story that didn’t happen because of you! Robin! My friend, an elderly man, wanted me to pick him up in AZ because his ride fell thru, so I used the Highway weather app that you recommended and drove and slept according to the weather. One time I took a GREAT nap, and could have slept more but a STORM WAS COMING so, I drove just ahead of the storm and missed terrible road conditions that halted all traveling and arrived to pick up my friend just as planned. Thank you for that tip! It has helped me plan ahead but that time it saved me from being stuck for days.

I love your channel and your grit. I remember when you posted these crazy incidents. One of my crazy RV stories: after a long haul on I-40 I was driving through Wickenburg AZ. While driving through the roundabout my truck stopped. The rear axle on my travel trailer fractured. If that happened while driving on the highway, I would've died. Note: get your rig's Ubolts and connection bolts checked. Change your leaf springs to 4. RVing is awesome but we need to be hyper aware! 😎

Everywhere I've lived people say something like don't like the weather? Just wait a few it'll change. I grew up in Colorado Springs and the weather really does change so fast there. I think it has to do with the way the weather comes down the mountain slope. My dad used to talk about the Chinook winds coming down from the mountains.

Guuuurl?! Thx so much for sharing your life with us! I love it. I did the rv thing after couple of years watching. That’s only a very bare minimum to learning this life! I needed a hip surgery and was parked in friends property no hook ups save for electricity, no trees -I love the cold and it wouldn’t drop below 80. Had brand new rv couple months and returned to usual way of living but will never give up the dream in some form (full or part time loving) so looove hearing the stories. Your hairstyles! Gotta cute face so you can get away with anything. Enjoy!
