I love the new Attitude Indicator, because the one in the middle was rarely accurate for me, so when I would loose sight of it, I got into the habit of pointing the drone towards me on the map and flying the orange line, and then would glance at the altitude and distance to help me spot it as it was getting closer.

I have gotten so much good information from this channel than probably any channel. This was a good explanation of the change to attitude display. That being said, I knew nothing about proper care and use of the lipo batteries when I got my first drone. I learned the proper way to use and store those batteries here on this channel. I have the 3 original batteries I got when I got the spark, they don’t seem to have lost any power and they have been charged and used hundreds of times by now and are over 3 years old. Same with my mav air 1, still using original batteries and they still act as if they were new. THANK YOU!!!

Good video! In the newer version of the Attitude indicator (that I have on my Mini 4 Pro) the attitude indicator can also be adjusted so that it is “Controller Centric” instead of its default setting of “Drone Centric” as shown in this video. In this setting the controller (and pilot) are in the center of the indicator instead of the drone, making everything relative to the position of the pilot. I find it more useful in this mode because it’s easier for me to figure out where the drone is with respect to me and what direction it is facing.

I recently got my Mini 2 ... and holy crap, I think you may have answered one of my questions: "how can I tell how windy it is where my drone is actually at rather than where im at?" ... before the app warns me. This is invaluable. Thanks a ton! Im still working on getting more comfortable w/ flying it further away from me ... its highly unnerving lol

This was excellent! I have been testing this because I am older and I lose sight of the drone in the bright sky, clouds and trees in the background. I can lose sight of it even though it is not that far away. This system enables me to locate and return the drone safely. I did not fully understand the "attitude" indicator completely until this video so I will need to pay more attention. Thanks Rick. 🤗

I put up my bebop2 drone on a very quiet Banna Beach, Kerry Ireland one day, It was very breezy but after the drone was up and away, a thick fog came in and I totally lost sighht of the drone, furthermore the wind had the camera lens covered with sand so I could not see with the drone. I did just as Rick had said, fly one way, then the other and saw my distance getting closer on the display until it started going away from me again. It had passed me but at a small distance out. So eventually I managed to bring it home none the worse for wear. That was with basic distance indicator on a bebop2. So must check what version I have now on the Mini1 and the Mavic Pro3. Great informative Video Rick, keep up the good work.

Nice explanation. Thank you. A trick I use to help me to spot my Air2 when I lose sight of it is to switch on the LED under the craft and press the stick forward or backward and that makes the light blink.

Hey Rick, thanks for the informative video re the new DJI Fly Attitude Indicator. One thing you didn't mention however was the description of the attitude icon dynamic output. The outermost ring of the attitude icon represents power output. It indicates the ratio between current output power and maximum output and shows whether the aircraft output is full loaded. (Only displayed in sort mode) If the outer ring turns red, it indicates that the output is saturated which often happens when the wind is high,speed is fast or when it is necessary to decelerate or land a fast as possible. In addition, it is normal when the value is less than 100%.[This ínfo' I received from DJI directly in response to a query that I put to them in an email recently.] Thanks again for all your helpful videos/tutorials.

Great video Rick. For many the RC creates magnetic interference with your phone (especially if used in the cradle) I have spent a lot of time trying to calibrate the compass while in the RC holder, flip it over etc, but to no avail. This means the indicator showing whether the controller is pointing at the drone is not reliable. I run a Samsung S9 and the Mini 1. What I have conceded to do is with a normal compass before I take off find grid north and just make a note of a land mark in that direction. Then keeping the map in north mode ( not compass mode so it doesn't spin) if I ever lose sight of the drone I line the controller up with my North landmark and on the map can quickly see the accurate direction I need to turn relative to the drone to be pointing the antennas at it. Seems to work well. I appreciate the old radar would fair no better as it's a phone compass interference thing but quite ironic it's the DJI component that causes it!

I like the N indicator as it allows you to make sure you have calibrated the compass properly and you are able to see the direction it's pointing is actually the direction its facing. I had a flyaway where there was a YAW error and the drone was pointing west but thought it was pointing east. I got it back in the end but scary none the less

I’m gonna get out and practice because I lost my orientation while out flying this afternoon and ended up hitting the RTH...Usually I would just follow the red directional line in map view to bring my drone back to me. Thanks for the info I’m gonna get out tomorrow and work with this information.

Awesome info and I didn’t know about this as I just bought my mini two last week but I have a spark and it didn’t have any of this info. Now I do see a line when I flying and I see the flight path as well so I’m wondering if that red line is the direction of the controller.
