Excellent book. I just wish this movie looked more .. dirty, grimy and closer to real life, depicting how a young child might live on her own and the hunger and struggles she encounters. This looks like a glossy Disney production. We'll see.

I´m a little scared…I really love this book and the trailer didn’t really capture its feeling. Too polished, too loud, to fast. I was picturing a more sensible and calm atmosphere. I think it’s a story that could easily be ruined in a film.

It could be that the second and third trailers capture the mood of the story more. I love how the cast looks but for a swamp girl I thought she'd be a bit less...polished? Not wearing makeup with perfectly cut hair.
@mrosalee2 жыл бұрын
HARD AGREE. She's waaaayyyy too clean. I'm not saying she'd be covered in dirt but her clothes would be very well worn and her hair not looking constantly freshly washed. The house would be much more run down. The whole book is imbued with the low hum and rippling of the marsh and like you say - this is way to bright, loud and fast. Such a pity. Just imagine what it would be like in the hands of someone with more vision.

Yeah they always do that in film. I was thinking the same thing. I actually just had to look up to see where they made it take place. Supposed to be North Carolina. I live in the Swamps of Louisiana, and the first thing I thought is we don't ever call it the marsh and we don't ever call them crawdads. LOL. Glad to see it was supposed to be North Carolina and not us. We call them Crawfish and you definitely use the term the Bayou or the swamp. Marsh is a term we don't use. But yeah, everybody definitely need to be dirtied up a little. LOL. You don't stay clean in the swamp.

The two male leads look too much alike, the swamp setting looks too perfect and pretty (reminds me of the Notebook), and overall the trailer gives me high production but not so much in terms of tension and atmosphere. But trailers can be misleading.

So, true!! So many are about narrowly escaping death by nature, creatures, or other humans. I think it's very much a reflection of how we're feeling as a culture.
