i think you nailed the number one spot - Lamar Valley. out of the 4 times i've been to Yellowstone, i've seen multiple wolves there on 3 of the trips. i've seen bears there too but you can see bears almost anywhere in the park....especially around the Tower/Roosevelt area. a lot of people mention Hayden Valley but i haven't had good luck there.

Nathan, thanks for watching! Enjoy your trip to we assume Yellowstone (since that was the video you were watching). If you’re actually heading to Yosemite it’s amazing however we visited king before we started stick cameras in our faces. Great video, thanks! If you like Grizzly Bears you should visit Alaska. Went camping in Denali National Park and saw 5 of them. We also went kayaking near Ketchikan and watched a Momma bear and two cubs catching salmon in the lake, from about 200 feet away! Also saw a Bald Eagle swoop down and catch a fish!
@AdamandMadalyn2 жыл бұрын
We can’t wait to visit Alaska, it’s the last state we need to visit! We’ll have to figure out how to best do that now that we have a little one…we almost went last summer but just couldn’t make it work. We want to go the Katmai National Park

I would love to go to Yellowstone NP! We've thought about visiting this summer, but we're hesitant to travel by air right now (we're in North Carolina). I've heard of Geyser Basins before. We have been to Glacier National Park. That's a great place for hiking and wildlife viewing as well. New friend and follower here!
@AdamandMadalyn3 жыл бұрын
Completely agreed! Haven’t been to Glacier but that’s next on the list when the road to the sun is fully open!
@georgetudhope4083 жыл бұрын
Old Faithful area is the upper geyser basin and has several predictable geysers. The lower geyser basin has a drive at firehole lake that should be seen. Norris geyser basin is a must see if you like thermals

When my family and I visited Yellowstone National Park in the 1950s, we were waiting in line at a restaurant, when a bear decided to join us. My brother reminded me that he had turned around and the bear was right behind him. Talk about close encounters that was it for him. He told me it scared him. Thankfully the bear didn't hurt him. God bless.
@AdamandMadalyn Жыл бұрын
Deborah, thanks for sharing! Yellowstone was probably very different, yet in a lot of ways the same in the 1950s!

FYI: As of last year, elk are not common, only saw two during a 5 day stay (besides the herd in downtown Mammoth). Not seen in Lamar Valley at all, possibly the wolves have had in impact in recent years.
@evanferguson3422 жыл бұрын
I went there in June of last year and saw lots of bison and deer, but no bears.
@AdamandMadalyn2 жыл бұрын
Evan, that’s too bad! Hopefully you saw some other stuff like Moose?
@martinjdesmond2 жыл бұрын
When I have visited Yellowstone, one can usually tell the type of wildlife near the road by the number of vehicles parked. For example, if there are 40 or more cars stopped, the likelihood is that the animal will probably be a bear. It's pretty easy to find wolves in Lamar Valley, especially if you have a spotting scope.

@@AdamandMadalyn Some people say there is a 1 in a million chance of seeing a bear in Yellowstone while others say they are quite prominent. Since I am going soon and staying about 15 mins away from Hayden valley, what chances do you think I have of seeing a bear in the northeast of Yellowstone?
@AdamandMadalyn3 жыл бұрын
@@jiteshjensondas277 I wouldn't call it 1 in a million. Last time we were in the Tetons/Yellowstone area we saw 11 bears. There are some things you can do to improve your chances. One, keep checking the valleys, and keep an eye for a clustered crowd watching something. It may be far off but nice strangers will let you use their telescope. Two, dusk and dawn are when animals are most active. Three, more days in the park means more chances! Four, keep your eyes peeled...we had an awesome encounter with a black bear at dusk and no one else was around. If you miss out on a bear in the wild you can go to the grizzly and wolf discovery center in West Yellowstone. Safe travels and good luck!
@jiteshjensondas2773 жыл бұрын

Michael, you’re absolute right, that there are mountain lions in Yellowstone! The population is pretty small and sighting are very rare...from what we can find they don’t estimate the population of Mountain Lions to be above 30 within the park. Would definitely be awesome to see!
@kennethstarr55453 жыл бұрын
It’s my feeling that if anyone thinks, “Awww, it’s just an elk.” shouldn’t be in a park. Mostly because those are the people driving 60 mph.
