Figuring out where to stay in Berlin can be challenging and overwhelming as Berlin is such a big city. I've lived here and still go back to the German capital numerous times a year, so I know all the best areas and places to stay in Berlin.
In this video, I'm taking you on a tour of the 3 best areas to stay. So whether it's your first time in Berlin, you've been here before, or you're a true Berlin connoisseur - I hope there's some new information for you in the video.

1. MITTE
Mitte is the closest thing we can get to a city centre in Berlin. This is the best area to stay in Berlin for first-timers and those who want to stay close to the main attractions.

2. PRENZLAUER BERG
Prenzlauer Berg is my favourite area in Berlin and an excellent place to stay for families as well as those looking for a bohemian vibe but in a very safe and secure way.

3. FRIEDRICHSHAIN
Friedrichshain is still a bit rough around the edges, and there's a certain vibe here that you won't find in other parts of Berlin. I find it very charming, and I think it's the perfect area for young travellers and tourists looking for that famous Berliner atmosphere.

Great video! I'm thinking about staying close to Checkpoint Charlie. Is that a good place for a guy travelling alone?

Thank you! It wouldn't be the first place on my mind if I were to recommend an area to stay in Berlin for a solo traveler. It can feel a bit over-touristy and perhaps a bit soulless, if I'm being honest. That said, you'll be very close to many of the historical attractions, so it's not all bad - but if you want to 'rub shoulders' with the locals, I'd recommend looking at areas such as Prenzlauer Berg or Friedrichshain.

Hi Vic, you own a tour company. We r from SG coming to Berlin/Munich (10) do u have a 3/2 night kind of tour where we can see Berlin plus it outskirts. After which we stay another 2 night on our own.

Great video...me and 4 of my friends are heading to Berlin In April for a long weekend . we are all in our 50s so can you recommend a decent area with some decent bars and hopefully no trouble...cheers:)

Cheers! It would make perfect sense to stay around Friedrichstrasse Station, where you've got good connections with the S-bahn and U-bahn + there are plenty of good pubs close by, especially if you walk up to Oranienburger Strasse. Leonardo Hotel Berlin Mitte is an excellent and affordable hotel (I stayed there when I filmed this video), and you've also got the NH Collection Berlin Mitte and the Melia Berlin around there.
