Which 4 link is best for air suspension?

Rat Rods for Africa

Күн бұрын

Before setting the pinion angle , we look into the geometry of different 4 link suspension systems to see the various effects on pinion angle when the suspension moves up and down.
I explain why I feel that a parallel 4 link is the best solution for air rides with lots of movement and different ride heights. Then finally we weld the back axle brackets in place!

You've done a masterful job in building this suspension,,One thing that I want to input is that yor transmission and rear end doesn't have to be at the same angle because your universal joint will compensate though no doubt overall it would be best..Always the best overall work I've seen on youtube..Paul from Ohio..USA
@chuckster6513
@chuckster6513 Жыл бұрын
If the two angles are not the same, you will have vibration when the driveshaft is turning as well as early U joint failure. If the angles are too far apart the slip joint will not slide correctly.
@ratrodsafrica
@ratrodsafrica Жыл бұрын
Thank you Paul! I have to disagree with you. You want the transmission angle and pinion angle to be the same, but those centerlines do not have to line up (within limitation). This is to avoid vibration and weird oscillations. Check out this video by Aaron for a great visual demonstration: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/j81-jcl6t5Ocfps.html

Looks great I thought you were installing rear Air bags. If not but your installing shocks you could use coil overs and a pan hard bar. You were saying your pinion angle changes due to up and down travel. I thought torque is what changes pinion angle.you set it a little lower than your trans angle so when you accelerate the pinion angle moves up to meet your trans angle.. your car your build I'm sure what ever you come up with it's probably right take care diff looking forward to seeing what's next.

Constructed and designed like an engineer. You must have a background in Mechanical engineering Dif. Is there going to be an issue with the drive shaft angle? It seems the elevation will cause a negative approach angle from differential to transmission or am I just not seeing the whole business out of ride level. Will we see some kind of dampening for the front suspension? Very interesting design. I am sure we are all wondering how well it will ride and handle. Love your program and how you present the ideas. Thank you Diff for your time. Very interesting!

Correct me if I'm wrong, Diff, but from the angle that I am looking, it looks like the driveshaft will cut through your beautifully made crossmember with the holes in it.
