I used to disagree -- but over time, I began to see some serious problems with modern Bible translations. I never thought I would do this -- but I too am now a KJV user. Mind you, I don't question the salvation of those still using the NIV, ESV, what have you, as I've been there -- but like you, I too am now convicted that the KJV is THE perfect and uncompromised word of God in the English language.

WOW !!! A blast from the past so to speak. As a student of the "Scripture" 44 yrs now I've watched this war on "The Word of GOD" endure for many years. Up front know I am not anti KJV nor am I anti LLX/CT. Though for the New Testament my preference is the "Byzantine" Text for reasons those who have knowledge of it will understand. As I made reference to in the beginning, being a student of the "Scripture" as well as a "Biblical expositor," truly requires reliable "Text types." Over the year's of comparing the three mentioned I have discovered a great concept. The correct "Text" will be the one that contextually expresses the content, and the intention of the content in direct relation to the corresponding actions of the inquiry. There has also been a lesson observed which seems to dominate this world war on "The Word of God." One of our countries finest during the 1500's made a profound statement truly applicable here. His statement reads as follows; "One way to avoid Truth. There is a principle which is a bar against all information, which is proof against all argument, and which cannot fail to keep man in everlasting ignorance. Luke chap 2 verse 48 in the kjv referred to Joseph as Jesus's father as well. Im a kjv fan but we need to be fair. The kjv translators admitted that it might not be perfect as no translation is. And the other translators get hammered about the joseph as the father references but no one ever brings up that kjv verse. I think joseph could be looked at as maybe a earthly father like a step dad. He had to have had a stong fatherly presence in the eyes of their friends and family and the other people.

The KJV is the Word. All other translations are there to serve as commentary. I personally use the ESV and NIV as commentary.

It amazes me how most people CANT see this. Like, to me its obvious to the point of being common sense... but then i see some people absolutely refusing to admit that Easter is correct lol. They give no reasons why it should be Passover... but they affirm that it should be and change the subject

This guy reminds me so much of my experiences growing up in a small Baptist Church where 'Grace' was talked about, but a sort of Pseudo-Legalism was the reality. While I've no doubt Mike Hoggard, if pressed, would assure us his ministry is all about the 'Grace of God as manifested through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ', yet his presentation above is so replete with legalism that the irony is almost funny. I say almost, because it is this very type of denominational legalism that resulted in practically an entire generation of young people rejecting established 'religion' in the 1970's. One need only listen to the beginning 1/4 of this diatribe where Hoggard quotes virtually every Bible verse he can find warning about drunkenness with wine, and proceeds to convey that these represent a Biblical prohibition of drinking beer (or presumably wine). He specifically equates drinking a daily beer with a "sinful life" and equates it with an unmarried couples living together in sin. Now keep in mind, this is just before he begins to relate all of the scriptural warnings against 'adding to or taking away from' the Word of God. Yet, nowhere in the Bible is there a prohibition against drinking beer or wine. Warnings of drunkenness due to excess drinking are there, but then so are warnings of gluttony (and old Pastor Mike doesn't look like he's missed many meals). Jesus himself apparently drank wine. At the very least, we know from scripture He did not discourage it, even turning water into wine. Of course, some will try to explain this away by saying it wasn't really wine, but probably just grape juice- Right! So, it's OK for Hoggard to alter the scriptures by adding his own addendum! But the real issue here is his admonition to avoid all Bible translations other than the King James, implying it and it alone represents the actual true God-inspired Word. Anyone who makes any attempt whatsoever to research the various Bible translations and how they originated will know the KJV was actually a revision of other translations, all of which were based upon a very limited number of manuscripts. Subsequent to its development in the 1600's, many more manuscripts have been discovered, including much earlier ones. Those verses or portions of verses Hoggard complains have been omitted or altered in some modern translations like the NASB, ESV and NIV are not present in the earliest manuscripts. This indicates they were actually added to the Bible by some of the translators and do not actually belong in the Word. The King James Bible is a great and valued piece of work and should always be a part of our faith; however, IT IS NOT as accurate and faithful to the earliest Bible manuscripts as the NASB and therefore, strict insistence that it is the ONLY legitimate Bible is either an example of ignorance due to laziness (not making the effort to research) or an intentional deception borne of dogmatism. Whichever, Hoggard should know better if he is truly open to seeking the Truth! We Christian all need to stop judging one another and arguing over insignificant issues and seek together to fight the evil one who continually seeks to divide us and diminish our efforts to bring others to Christ!

You can because the KJV is not the most pure version of the English. I don't hate the KJV myself but really know the translation of this bible. God uses all bibles to point people to the truth. The KJVonly idea of there being one pure bible is laughable at best which does not hold up to any intelligent scruity from history.

Oh my! If in pretence or in truth, Christ is preached!! In that I rejoice! Bible choice means so very little my friends!!! Yet if you choose God and seek Him through prayer and study of the scriptures you are so much better off than those who do not. I hope you understand that most believers did not have ready personal access to the scriptures. This KJV only stuff is just wrong, as if God cannot work through other versions and languages. Oh dear people the Israelites had the oracles of God in the original language which happened to also be their native language and yet when the Chosen One appeared they did not seem to recognize Him, yet even if they did recognize Him they still murdered Him. And they murdered Stephen for telling them what they had done. So much for having the external written word at your disposal. We are to be serving a Living God who speaks to us on individual basis and gives us our very own instructions. You have heard of those who by faith did what God had instructed them to do, the very thing the elders of the faith were commended for? These people did not have the opportunity to rely upon written directions! Oh no! They were required to act upon the instructions God gave to them individually. They had to step out by faith and do what God had spiritually instructed them to do. Oh yes! Read Hebrews 11 my friends. My I ask which scripture in which version told Ananias to find Saul and restore his sight? Was it written anywhere until after it had already been done? Which of those cited in Hebrews 11 had something written down to place their faith in order to follow through with obeying the instructions? None of them! God spoke to them heart to heart and they obeyed. That is faith! Who doesn't want you to obey this? Why do men want you to have your focus on some certain version of the scriptures rather than having your focus on hearing and obeying the living God. We are to be spiritually lead; we are to be instructed into all faith and righteousness by the Holy Spirit. Not by men who tell us what is what. That is what the Sanhedrin did; you know, those folks who killed Jesus and Stephan, and the prophets.

2 Kings 13:1-10 does not add up chronologically in any of the Bibles, including the King James. From "the three and twentieth year of Joash the son of Ahaziah king of Judah" (2 Kings 13:1) to "the thirty and seventh year of Joash king of Judah" (2 Kings 13:10) you cannot come up with seventeen years, no matter how you stretch it. Proverbs 5:16 in the KJV is translated as a declarative injunction " Let thy fountains be dispersed abroad, and rivers of waters in the streets" seemingly advocating promiscuity and is out of context with the surrounding texts advocating chastity and marital fidelity. In fact Proverbs 5:16 should be read as a rhetorical question, as most modern versions have it, "SHOULD your fountains be dispersed abroad, streams of water in the streets?" (NKJV}, and in this CORRECT context it runs smoothly from the previous verse 5:15 and is answered by the following four verses. Here is proverbs 5:15-5:20 to demonstrate, from the New King James, the appropriateness of the updated version of Proverbs 5:16 15 Drink water from your own cistern, And running water from your own well. 16 Should your fountains be dispersed abroad, Streams of water in the streets? 17 Let them be only your own, And not for strangers with you. 18 Let your fountain be blessed, And rejoice with the wife of your youth. 19 As a loving deer and a graceful doe, Let her breasts satisfy you at all times; And always be enraptured with her love. 20 For why should you, my son, be enraptured by an immoral woman, And be embraced in the arms of a seductress? There are more examples, although personally the Lord has led me by His Spirit (I only speak for myself) to stay with the textus receptus, both in English and in Spanish.

12:56 haha! That's so true! I keep church hopping and weighing them all up, they're all so weak in their delivery. I see many others doing it too. Last week (KJV hating baptists), was about the armour of God, so many times it was mentioned that we'll be learning about it in sermons to come. Yet, not once was it even itemised or defined in the 1.5 hours he had to do so. I want to go to a church, and before I leave to go, I check my notebook, only 5 pages left: I'd better bring my new one aswell. You can barely write a paragraph of what's "taught" in Sunday or Saturday sermons.

first 7 translations are the best ie, by Wycliffe and Darby.. KJV has it wrong with the 'falling away' in Thessolonians ,.. should read departure/harpazzo/ kidnapping, even as the Benjaminites kidnapped the virgins in the vineyards so their tribe would not die out..
