Which CAR Should PASS The Intersection FIRST? USA Driving Tests and Road Rules

Car A and B have arrived at this intersection at about the same time. Car A wants to turn left and car B wants to go straight. Who has the right of way?

It’s scary when you imagine that there are probably quite a few people out there with a driver’s license, that haven’t figured out the correct answer by the time he starts the timer. 😅

If this happened in Las Vegas, the Yellow car driver would be asleep after a drunken bender and his car would drift in the middle of the intersection and the Red car driver would be reading the newspaper while talking on his cell phone; using his left leg to steer while his right foot on the gas peddle continues to spasm uncontrollably.

Can you please make a video of a intersection that has a Stop and a yield sign? I’m pretty sure a lot of people are getting this wrong. At least in Switzerland, the driver that has a yield sign has to give away to the person who has a stop sign.

Other way around. Stop MUST Stop. Yield Sign means Give Way to moving Traffic.

same rules apply so assuming they both arrive at the same time, person to the right has right of way. so still B goes first

The intersection has not been determined. A four way stop or a stop for red and a yield for yellow. Signage from photo is unclear. The decision is similar but second choice could also be correct.

All 4 Lanes have a WHITE Stop Line. This is a 4 Way STOP. The Line would not be there without a STOP Sign. And seldom would a 4 Way Intersection have any YIELD Signs.

Being a european driver, if this was a roundabout the rules would be much simpler: 1) Car on the roundabout has right of way. 2) Car joining the roundabout must give way to traffic already on it until it is safe to join. Applying "roundabout rules", if car A is clear to go it can proceed, car B must wait for car A unless it isn't moving. The problem of 4 cars arriving at the same time is resolved by one of the 4 making the decision to go. The situation then changes but the same rules apply. Roundabouts really do work and I can only think that the reason for not having more of them in the US is founded in cost.

Tell me you never have waived someone else through or been waived through at a stop before without saying it outright. Sometimes a bit of courtesy and patience goes a long way.

In my neighborhood, both drivers will stare at each other wondering who goes first. After a few seconds, they both figure that the other is yielding so they both start to cross. Both quickly realize that the other one has started moving, and both will slam on their brakes and wait for the other one to go first. And repeat ad infinitum.
