A very fair point! I messaged Fresair to get the units of air flow. They responded, but it seemed to be slightly different unit of measure from the Maxxair that I could find. I'll do the math and pin it in my pinned comment and video description. It might end up being the only place online you can find the answer. Fresair had to message the maker to get the answer and still only one number that represents the air flow at max power.

So still trying to figure it out. I emailed them back for clarification, but until they respond, this is what they have said so far: Maxxair advertises that max power puts out 900 CFM Fresair emailed me this: "The only information we were able to obtain is for the Fresair on the highest setting - CFM / CRM: 400m(cubed) per hour." CFM stands for cubic feet per minute. But they said theirs is per hour? So I am confused and can't find a decent answer online. If this was really per hour, and not per minute, then that would seem to me to be completely off. Their response was just confusing. Maybe it's just 400 CFM total per minute, but I would still question it given the velocity of the air flow from 4 jets. Although the Maxxair is a bigger radius overall. Their answer just confuses me more. Anyone know if there is an extra calculation to equate the two numbers?

They didn't even ask me to make a video or hold me to it. This was a completely honest comparison. I also make pretty much nothing from affiliate links, so I'm really not even concerned about that either. I legit made this video knowing it wouldn't make me money, but I did so to help people understand the difference and just how little wind a Maxxair actually puts out. That was the big one for me. Everyone is getting the Maxxair just because it's the thing to do, they don't realize just how little wind is being put out. That said, the Fresair is in an odd part of the market, too expensive for most people who just want a fan. I think there is more opportunity for someone to come in and make a much better fan at a way cheaper price without it having to run water through it for air cooling. But some people out west are going to want the Fresair, it makes sense for these people the most. Still I'm not going to use the water cooling, yet I would buy it all over again. I'll probably never use a Maxxair myself again, although I do not think they are bad fans, just better out there for a little more money.

Let's see....one is over a thousand dollars and the other is three hundred. Hmmmn. Wait one can actually cool the temperature but then again you have to move to Arizona or another hot "dry" climate for it to work. LOL! Plus I never heard of Fresair so don't really have a real review of it's durability or longevity. TBH, Both are way overpriced. Here's a video that shows a 'fan hack' with a $20 box fan that could easily be rotated in or out....kzfaq.info/get/bejne/Zs6SqaRixLTcZ3k.html and it fits the preexisting escape hatch. Although you may need to come up with a magnetic screen hack or bugs. You're welcome budget bus buddies.

So love the choice in van! Diesel vs Gas, for the maintenance, gas is better. You do get better fuel economy with diesel, but it kinda costs more now anyway... so that is up to you. With a diesel you can install a diesel heater directly to your fuel tank, which I did. Gas, you just need an extra tank for diesel. I would have been fine with a gas engine too. But diesel comes with a cool factor too. Watch out for the DPF filter and exhaust system on the diesels. They can be a pain to replace and cost a lot! This alone holds some back from buying one! But if mine goes bad, I'm just going to straight pipe delete it (illegal). This will give me like 10 more MPG and way more power.

As long as you don't mind not really feeling the air, maxxair fans do move more air overall than most fans

Oh right on. I just went and looked at their website and they said that "thermal sensation" (perceived air temperature?) would only be minimally different if you put ice in the resevoir; thus, it is ultimately unnecessary to do. If that's true, then that's a total pro for Fresair!

We have both and we’re disappointed with the Fresair. It’s mounted over the bed and simply doesn’t cool enough, unless you are lying directly under it. Even using fans, including our Maxxair, to move the cooler air forward, doesn’t help. My other complaint is there’s no way to know how full the water tank is. A light comes on when it’s low, but beyond that, guesswork.

I'm hugely loving the Fresair! It's very nice low power way to stay cool even on low power modes. I found an AC system that is low power and lower output overall, but actually might be best for most vanners since we usually don't ever have enough room for enough solar to keep up with normal compressors. A video on this will probably be put out in two months. Next video is the big one! A halfway tour of my van. People been asking for it

Haha, well I got at least one positive comment about the end now! Some people were saying they were going to unsub because it was corny, but honestly I was like "oh I need and ending" and I just picked up my camera and recorded it, first thing that came to mind while filming. Wasn't planned to say it at all haha. It just happened and I thought it was funny to keep it in.

It comes down 5 to 6 inches. While I did put this in the video, I really should have made a bigger deal about this. It's not an issue for me since I have a tall van and can still stand below my Fresair. But short vans would have a much bigger impact. So I do not recommend this fan for shorter vans!

@@OutdoorsEmbrace Ya, Saw it in your video But seen your build out and it did not look to stick out that much. Ya, my inside height for the Van is only 5'11" My girl stands 5'11" flat footed so with boots she 6'1" to 6"2"

@prophetseven728 you could always mount it closer to one side of the van, or on a part of the roof where you will be less likely to hit it on your head from below. It will come down 5 to 6 inches, but on mine it does not appear so since I have tons of cieling insulation.

When it comes to it, the fresair actually has me sleep comfortably in hot weather. The maxxair could never do this for me. Sleep is the most important thing in my life. Exactly. Sleep is the most important part of the van build. Bed and air over night matter the most to keep you sane over the time spent in the van.
