It’s very simple everybody needs to eat if you don’t want to pay a firms 1% percent fee then educate yourself and invest by yourself🤷🏻‍♂️💯

Yeah I would never go AUM, unless the percentage charged was very low. A 1% fee can just kill your returns. If you are thinking about retiring early and using a modified 4% rule, you might knock that down to 2.5%. In that scenario, AUM would take 40% of your yearly income. It's just too expensive.

Nice job discussing this "controversial" topic Dave! (Seems more controversial for advisors than it does for clients). I don't think there is a "best" service model, but that for different advisors with different skill sets as well as different clients with differing amount of assets and financial savviness that one model most often is a better fit for them!

I agree with you. I like what Ron said about, whatever model you choose, make sure it's very clear to your clients.
