Its crash history is actually among the safest of U.S. military rotorcraft when you look at mishaps per flight hour. There’s just so ungodly many of them and they fly all the time. The real reasons are more to do with overall footprint (necessitating larger HLZs) and the risk of exhaust setting dry grass on fire (somewhat common with the V-22).

@@Robonoob_perThankfully one engine can turn both rotors thanks to an interconnecting driveshaft. A dual engine failure has never happened in the entire history of the V-22 program.
