@@michaelrose93 Yep, using IR for that is a solid idea and has been done. That's how most night vision devices used to work. You will sometimes see large headlights on Cold War-era tanks, those are often IR lamps. They are invisible to the naked eye, but can light up even distant targets if you're looking through a night-vision sight capable of picking it up. Modern night-vision solutions for the past few decades tend to rely on digital thermal imaging, but IR is still an option for smaller militaries with tight budgets.

holy shit, mental illness is out of control in this country. look at the video of the lasers over Hawaii, they are visible green lasers for scanning the topography of the earth. If you wanted to start a fire with a laser you can't sweep it over the surface at many thousands of miles an hour. It would be kept on a spot in order to build heat and combust the trees. And you would use an infrared laser, not a green one, to conceal it's origins If this was intentional it would have been done by the US DOD, who was trying to acquire that land. And they would likely start the fires the old-fashioned way. There is no proof it was anything but a natural fire. Stop playing COD and go outside. Not everything is a conspiracy. You are easier to control when you are in fear. remember that.

Depends on how powerful they are. He experiments alot with lasers so he has probably checked the power rating on them. It also looked like the paper the IR laser ignited was flashpaper, meaning that even that one doesn't have to be especially powerful

Most lasers don’t kill you if you aren’t properly protected from them, they just p e r m a n e n t l y b l i n d you. The sheer energy required to make a laser that instantly sets you on fire is insane, they are the size of rooms and make a ton of noise.

I would assume that you only wear goggles specified for the wavelength of light you're working with. Say, if you're working with a red laser, you would wear goggles that absorb red light, and if you're working with a green laser, you wear green absorbent goggles.

Most cameras can. They just have a filter that blocks it. If you take this filter out you can make your camera see ultraviolet or infrared light with different filters.

Based on colors alone and no knowledge of the actual power outage of each device, you'd choose UV, then violet, then blue as most powerfull as these colors have more energetic photons then orange, red and IR have. The shorter the wavelength the higher the energy. See wiki 'photon energy' for more info.

If you are going by wavelength then technically it is the blue/indigo laser on the left side. Shorter wavelength results in a higher frequency, subsequently causing more energy to be transferred in less time. This is why UV light is used for decontamination practice and infrared is used for keeping things warm.

Depends on how you define "strongest". Another factor is the wavelength of light - the "violet" (405nm) has the highest energy - the shorter the wavelenth of light, the more energy the photons have.

Tbf putting one of the inane short pulse lasers used for fusion next to a thousand 5mw lasers doesn't make it any weaker, the IR laser is still pretty respectable

@@expertoflizardcorrugation3967 I think the prank would be you using one of the laser-pointers that you'd use to point at stuff on a Power-Point slide projected on a board to 'light stuff on fire' when actually it'd be the IR laser doing the work that they couldn't see, and then you could like, hand it to them and have them try and then wonder why its not working lol
