Thanks for keeping it real and not editing out the stall. Great insight in to both boxes. I was convinced I would go manual but pdk is looking like the better option after this.

as I would be driving almost entirely on public roads I would opt for manual touring. if I lived next to the Nurburgring then PDK

Great comparisons for someone like me who’s in the market atm. Having a 981 spyder in manual its what makes it “more” special to me but each to their own & as the saying goes; Different Horses 🐎for Different Courses!’ Also the difference in handling & feel would most likely be tyres for eg; Pirelli vs Michelin Cup2 with stiffer sidewalls. Great video guys. Love the shark blue color and details. But the black with yellow details is just it. Nailed it. Had bucket seats in my 991.2 GT3 PDK but they were too much since as you said I did maybe 3 or 4 trackdays a year. As a weekend car the ordinary seats would suit me better. For that reason my dream spec would be no cage and no bucket seats with a manual for the involvement you ultimately look for in these kind of cars. For me getting the most out of it is not necessary. I give the PDK a 10 out of 10 but I am also happy with 9 out of 10 for the manual because of the engagement. Furthermore the engine works very well under 5000rpm so it means you can use the manual as if you are driving a turbo engine. If you would need to rev up all the time to 9000rpm the PDK would suit better. I did not do that all the time. For those reasons I think I would have more fun with the manual. And probably would go for the GT3 touring package.

Flat shifting a manual is pseudo PDK in itself. Combined with NA engine & torque high in the power band. Wringing it out with a manual is a perfect match.

To each his own but there’s no doubt that the PDK is more performance oriented. For that reason I went with the PDK.

I can’t hear the other guy even in your podcast! LOL. Please put a mic on him. I would never choose a PDK over a manual in a 911 cause I don’t track. Manual in the mountains is the kind of driving I do. And yes, the newer 911s have a super light clutch with less feedback but I actually prefer that to the heavier feel in my 997. Better in traffic like you said.

Although the PDK is quicker on the track, I would choose a manual because it's more engaging for the street and casual track day.

the sofa seats are higher ; ) … GT3’s are toys … weekend rips on open twisties and track days otherwise pick your Carrera or Turbo for daily

The differance in ride between the two might be tire pressure. I have a new Turbo S. Porsche recommends 38/48 front to rear. Harsh ride. I dropped the pressure to 34/40. Big change in ride.

Interesting and fun video. I agree no one else has done a versus of Manual and PDK. as a 997 GT3RS owner I'd go manual if it was my only GT3.If I had multiple GT3s I'd go PDK. I feel the older gen cars do manual and more engaging experiences better. If I had to pick one, I'd still go 997 over 992 if I was shopping in today's market as a buyer who wants a manual car. Do love shark blue. So much that I changed my RS to White/Shark blue.

Manual if you know how to drive a real car and save the bullshit about shift times because that means you can't drive.

Mathematically impossible to shift faster and more precise then PDK. I agree though manual has more soul, more fun and id like one myself but its not “you cant drive”, not in 2022 anyways.

@@alphaomega9255 don't care about shift speed and in 2022 driving a manual is becoming a lost skill because you can't be on a phone and most humans will die if it's not attached to their hand.

Everyone says for back roads manual but you never get out of third the gears are too tall , I don’t think anyone has driven them back to back .

I have driven both and for me, PDK for track and Manual for canyon and mountain roads. I spend more time in the latter, so I chose manual and don't regret it. BTW- I never drive in normal mode.

Thanks guys. I’d get the PDK. 1. I’m getting old and as much as I love driving my 04 c4s manual, I think with a car this powerful, I want both hands on the steering wheel when I’m driving hard to be safe. I think that’s my only reason. I liked the length of the video, but would like to see more of the front looking view to see the road more that your mug shots. Just a dude thing. No offense intended. A neighbor in my track got a new GT3 manual, all black, nicely appointed. It’s drop dead bad ass. From SoCal. 👊🏼👊🏼

My mic didn’t record and I turned it up to fix it. I could hear me in my headphones but I’m soft spoken so everyone has a hard time anyway.

For me PDK is more enjoyable given that GT3 engines’ characteristics - that’s daily driving and on track.

I’ve got an opposite take. NA engines need to be wrung out to maximize torque (like AC cars), it really makes for a perfect match with a manual. Turbo charged cars on the other hand, reach peak torque low in the power band & stay flat to redline. For that reason I always preferred PDK in that drivetrain.
