This test is based on their speed while not riding, while riding the Ichthy is by far the fastest underwater creature, whereas the Plesiosaur has low stamina and has a wide turn radius. So if your looking for something just for speed the Ichthy is the best choice for it's speed, manuverability and high stamina.

I came to this video to see preciously which is faster for the reason of choosing a mount. Managed to get some angler gel and figured i'd give it taming a Manta a go to start my underwater exploration of the Island. Wanted to see which can outrun threats (mostly Megalodons) between those two and my existing Meg. I plan and doing Angler fish because they can gobble up pearls but still wanted something nimble in the meantime. So are Ichthy a safe bet?

Entertaining, but this is only testing the base speed of the creatures. The Ichthyosaurus' speed scales up a lot faster than the other sea dinos when you level it up while it's tame, and the Tuso can use it's Ink Squirt to increase it's speed as well.

Sarco can outswim almost anything. It's an iguanadon in the water. Base speed is more than enough to get away from most creatures. Even on land it's not that slow

I used to use the plesiosaur a lot, but considering when I use the Sarco it’s much faster than Mosa, and Mosa and plesiosaur are same speed, the Sarco is superior in speed

I really wish they fixed the scaling in ark, a megalodon is supposed to be bigger than a mosa.

CJ Heynes they would be around equal length, but megalodon is a lot chunkier while mosa is more streamlined. But Ark is more of a simulation to see if you can survive I’m pretty sure (explains why the giga is so large and other Dino’s have different names then their actual scientific one)

Snuffy it is in fact real, but the world is a simulation, the arks are basically time capsules to return when the earth no longer is corrupted by element (as seen in the final cutscene of extinction

The Sarco is actually pretty fast in water. In the Caverns on the island you can speed run with it and not have to worry a about anything except jellyfish, electrophorous, tusoteuthis, & maybe alpha mosasaurs. I outran a mosa underwater w the sarco, but that might have been bc it got stuck or something so i cant say its faster for certain

Ichthyos are fast when mounted although the lower level ichthyos have low stamina, if you up stamina you could easily outswim anything and tame somehing like a mosa if you have an ichthyo
