Fuji XT30ii all the way !!! Its built in flash (besides many other things) is a must for my shooting style...which is...take picture as soon as possible !!! Do not miss the oppotunity...no time for setting an external flash. And many times, I really appreciate the light coming from a flash, even if I am doing street photography, specially when people let me take their picture and I have to do it fast. Thanks for the video. !!!!

As someone who has used both for months, the Ricoh GR3 image is way cleaner, shaper and has the edge by a mile compare to many fuji lens and also the New X100VI or the X100V, I have an XT-5 currently and i love every bit of my camera, but the GR3 Image quality for street photography is just insanely clean and you can slap on a mist filter to "dehance" the image if its to sharp. However the camera is 4 years old and its due for an update and many of the flaws that it has im sure will be address. Fuji has tons of advantages from film simulations, to flash to battery and 4K video. I love Fuji myself but the RicohGR3 Lens resolve is unmatched by X100V X100VI and the XT30ii with the 27mm .

I do agree that image quality of Ricoh at times stuns me. That said so does the XT30ii but in a different way. Hard to explain, less sharp but the colours do the work there :) regardless the choice between the two on one hand is hard and on the other it is simple. Nice and ambiguous but I do agree with your comments. X100V/I is a little overhyped and the fixed lens quality compared to the Ricoh GR3X and Leica Q is lagging behind

I wholeheartedly disagree. A great iphone photographer can beat a beginner with the ricoh, but Fuji's dynamic range and overall colors beat the ricoh by a mile and a half. Fuji's colors and cameras are so inspiring that they've reignited photography for many people and their x100 line is the most popular camera in the past 30 years hands down. I haven't seen another cam company go viral for their products. 90% of photography is the feel you get from using gear to take photos, which can inspire you to go out on trips/walks you may have not considered previously. Sharpness on fuji is all about having a quality lens as well:)

As someone who owns a iphone15 Pro, Ricoh GR3 and X-T5 i disagree. I love every party of my Fujicam especially its color there is no iphone on the planet that can come close to sharpness and dynamic range of the RicohGR camera because of its sensor size, There are plenty of youtube videos that clearly show the GR3 cameras resolve and have a better clarity than the x100V and X100VI as for colors and dinamic range from Fuji and GR camera than the Fuji wins but both systems share tons of the same recipes since they are both created by the same users. The portability and build in ND Filter and Flash and 23mm makes it easier to get use to when you compose, it is inspiring but plenty of Fujicams do the same thing. RicohCameras are a street cam by design its in the nature and Fujicams are a hybrid much bigger but certainly are build way beautiful. Every camera has its purpose but you can see for yourself plenty of comparison that the GR Lens are much shaper and clear than the current X100VI and X100V since they have the same exact lens. At the end of the day as long as people are out there shooting thats all that matters. @@Skaterman2413

I switched from the GRIII mainly due to the convenient features like tilt screen, dials, flash, using other lenses and more film simulations. I absolutely loved the images of the Ricoh but having only one positive film sim for colour that works best wasn’t enough, some images became very dark. I learned a lot along the way in terms of focusing when using the Ricoh so hopefully I can have the same experience on the Fuji with the 27mm lens.

Although i love the GRIIIx and the images out of it. I do feel the colours are unique and yes exposing correctly is key. Form factor is truly Pocketable. That said Fuji xt30ii with the 27mm does have it's benefits. I do feel the b&w sooc is hard to beat and Leica level. However tilt screen on the Fujifilm XT30II is great and the lcd in bright weather seems a little better than on the GRIIIx and yet I can't get myself to sell the GRIIIx as it is such a good camera with one or two limitations

Thanks for this comparison. Coming from a Sony background, I picked up a Ricoh GRIIIx a few months ago for Street and this week I picked up a Fuji X-T30ii, with the 27mm pancake. Rainy weather has kept me from using the Fuji outside yet. But, some impressions: If you can only have one camera, the Fuji is the one to get. Interchangeable lenses, EVF, and tilt LCD are three essentials for me. It will have more flexibility for different knds of photography. That said, the Ricoh is a nice extra tool for the tool kit: It is uniquely "Pocketable" in any pocket you might put your wallet. The IBIS is very effective, allowing very low shutter speeds. The Ricoh also has a "Highlight-weighted" exposure setting, like the Sony a7C2, but which does not seem to be on the Fuji.
@PaulTakesPhotos

I would agree that the Fuji is the obvious choice that said some of the features and the design/form factor of the Ricoh make it so exciting. Highlight weighed exposure is on of those great features. How do you find the 15mm? I am torn between the 14mm or 15mm as I'd like that wider MFT focal length for photography, what are you experiences?

That is an excellent alternative too. I prefer the xt1-5 or xt10-30ii bodies. The XE form factor has always been a little to small for me. In terms of image quality, always great and you can mount different lenses. What lens(ea) do you shoot with

Great video. The xt30ii imo is hands down the better choice. I bought the xt30ii last year and love the hell out of it, esp with the ttartisan 35mm 1.4 manual lens. As someone who started this as a hobby last yr, shooting in manual it definitely gave me a hands on approach to photography. Would you ever consider reviewing the Nikon zf? I'm looking to upgrade maybe next year and that camera is on my radar. I'm looking at a few lenses and buying lenses are an investment and I'm thinking about just making the jump to FF. With the ZF as a main camera.

Thank you for the endorsement! I have been contemplating buying a used ZF at some stage, but currently the used market isn't kind for the zf(c). Shooting with manual lenses is such a joy. Have a Pelican case full of old yashica, plantar en Zeiss lenses. All bought for peanuts, all great image quality and shooting experience.

Paul, i agree with you with Ricoh and other cams’ ‘zoom in/crop in’ feature is usually misleadingly advertised as, like you point out the compression doesn’t change. With compact quality cams like the Ricoh, Can G7x and Fuji X100s out of stock everywhere, i’m considering the Fuji you describe here. I rented the Ricoh for a week long ago and found the control interface a bit fiddly and difficult. Just wish the Fuji had IBIS. Thanks

Compression isn’t affected by the lens, distance from the subject is what affects it.

Thanks for your feedback. When it comes to ibis the xt40/50 is to be released and is rumoured to have ibis, based on the x100vi specs it should be so.

I have the XT30ii and unfortunately never fell in love with it. I don't like the shooting experience (shutter sound, shutter button sensitivity, the lense is always 'hunting for focus',...) and the images (noise grain, eye balls are often beige instead of white...). In the end I fell back to my old love the Nikon D700 (when shooting digital). Better in every way. I gave the Fuji to my wife.
