Wasn't expecting to see Iceborne content in 2023 but boy have I missed it honestly, there's so many monsters we don't get to see in Sunbreak that honestly I think there's still a place for IB deathmatches. Also, I forgot how aggressive Velkhana actually was, she attacks almost NON STOP. Makes me excited to see what they do to her if she actually is the next monster. Also, Namielle my beloved ❤

Velkhana definitely had more control over the area than Namielle.

Wow, that was quite a massacre. Apart from her ultimate, it didn't feel like Namielle had much to show. Maybe I am just too pampered by how Rise's monster fights play out.

The water effects mixing with the ice looks *so coooool.*

"F-k" No seriously, at 2:12, Namielle is hydrated, then Velkhana used its ice breath and Namielle was dehydrated and the same thing happens at 6:51 right after Namielle rehydrated and finally again at 10:33-they must have frozen all the water in Namielle's skin! That's probably why the fight went the way it did; the same thing happened with Teostra, Velkhana shut down his aura with cold. That's a really cool interaction. The water on the floor everywhere also made the ice springing from the floor feel really good for some reason. Really nice fight. Namielle definitely proved it's got the chops and power to go big, but this was sadly a bad matchup for them. Velkhana's too good. XD

Never seen a monster require an entire overhaul to their combat AI for the purposes of fighting other monsters, because Namielle really was doing everything in its power to kill the nonexistent tiny hunter in front of it, and Velkhana only ever got hit whenever they just happened to be standing within hunter distance to Namielle. Happy to see more MHW content

7:20 was such a great moment, if Namielle had done that nice one more time especially when Velk was knocked on the ground I reckon it would of won! Such an entertaining fight to watch, the whole arena full of ice and water 😂 Any plans for more Iceborne in 2023 or was this a one off? ☺️

An Iceborne fight to kick off the new year is unexpected but quite welcome; Namielle is my favorite elder dragon of the two and so I was rooting for him, but I had forgotten how frighteningly aggressive and fast Velkhana is; not only did she deprived Namielle of any breathing room and was relentless in flinching him, her attacks also had much better range and coverage & falling ice spikes gave her superior control over the arena. Poor Namielle barely had any chances to counterattack, and while he was able to zip around on his water patches, his attacks were still too slow and his stronger moves had long wind-ups that the Ice Dragon could quickly flinch him out of. It didn't help that he missed several times due to Velk's speed + ai wackiness, and he was also unable to take advantage of knockdown to the same degree of Velkhana. While his ultimate was able to deal massive damage, I doubt he would have won even if he managed to get two ultimates in; Velkhana is just way too fast and powerful and quickly regains the lead regardless. I'm excited to see Velkhana square up against the Sunbreak roster this year, and I already can imagine some amazing matchups.

The AI cripples monsters that should win these fights, as both Alatreon and Safi'Jiiva should be able to ruin Shara Ishvalda.

Since namielle actually stays on the ground a lot and velkana doesn't, their matched aoe movesets only help velk. That ans she just has so many accurate stabs with the beach and tail. Namielle would Don a lot better if her cc moves did anything to velk too
