What kind of polyhouse should you go for? Net-house or polyhouse? Naturally ventilated or climate controlled? Are you confused about such questions? Guess what. You are not alone. It's not easy to choose the right kind of polyhouse design unless you understand the purpose it serves.
In this video, we explain a few different polyhouse options and suggest what sort of polyhouse designs may or may not work for you, depending on your farm location and the annual weather pattern in your area.

What is your take on using Chinese Passive Greenhouse design in Tropical climate?

It’s designed to retain heat. Will work well for cold regions. Will be counter productive in tropical climate.

Hi, This video is very informative. I got a question that ,in Mumbai, throughout the year, the temperature will by between min 18 to max 37 and humidity will be 60 to 90. Can you suggest which one is best to setup? Appreciate your answer and thanks in advance.

Hi Sai, The high humidity is a challenge. The best option will be a retractable roof net house which can provide rain protection and heat protection and allow air to flow freely to keep humidity at minimum. Next best option will be naturally ventilated with a height of 6.5 meters or more. Last option would be a climate controlled one. If going for CC, height should be high and additional ventilation provision should be incorporated in the domes.

Hello sir, Can you please suggest the type of polyhouse for Madhya Pradesh region especially bhopal an nearby. Temperature in summer is around 40-47 also in monsoon when sun is up. And winter is 18-30

If you want all season growing and are looking to grow off season and exotic crops then go for fully climate controlled setup. Else if you are planning to grow local crops then go for net house set up in which you will not grow during monsoon season. Don’t set up naturally ventilated polyhouse there.

@@citygreens2235 i am planning to grow exotic produces all season and as you suggest, i should go with full climate controlled setup. How can I use government's schemes like fan and pad polyhouse subsidies and other aids from associations like nabard?

Can we use industrial ventilators? a circular dome on the roof, ..

Yes. But will need to add forced ventilation. The natural ones won’t be able to expel enough amount of heat.

can you please suggest the type of poly house need in kerala. Pleanned to grow some fruit plants which need high humidity infact.

Any form of Polyhouse will experience higher humidity than outside during night time and lower during day. Between NV and Climate Controlled, humidity is higher in climate controlled. Decide based on both temperature and humidity requirements. You can also use a fogging system to increase humidity levels inside your polyhouse at anytime. All The Best

If you are planning to grow leafy greens go for climate controlled. If planning for vining crops as per season - capsicum during winter and tomato / cucumber during summer - you can go for naturally ventilated with roll up curtains on sides and high pressure misting system to bring temperatures down during hot days.

It has varying climate. Will depend upon your exact location’s climate. If humidity is low - climate controlled will work else a retractable roof or a net house will be best suited.
