I've been looking for the Best White Rum Daiquiri. A Classic Daiquiri Recipe if you like. So in this 4th and final part of my White Rum Comparison Daiquiri tasting. I pick the top 13 Rums that have scored the highest over the 3 previous videos, then rank them in a Blind tasting. Is my Favourite Rum, STILL my favourite? The Daiquiri Cocktail Ingredients are simply Rum, Lime and Sugar. So finding the best White Rum for the Daiquiri is really important.

Thank you for this brilliant series. I am not sure if there have been many blind tastings with such a huge group of contestants to taste. It's really hard to do a blind tasting on video. You found a way that works. (deleted my previous post. I agree with what you said.)

Great series Steve! Deep down I was pulling for my favorite but Don Q Cristal didn't make the finals. My white rum experience only consists of Bacardi Superior, Don Q Cristal and The Real McCoy 3yr. Always on the hunt for another to add to my collection. Thanks Steve!

Steve, you are doing yeoman's work here. So important to illustrate that the classic daiquiri is heavily influenced by a drinker's choice of white rum (plus the drinker's unique palate and a palate friending lime/sugar balance). Well done sir. Great series; really wonderful. Is the Mojito next? Mai Tai (rum blends & single rum builds)? I must say, the biggest surprise for me was how Plantation 3 Star feel off your top 3-4 white rum results. You have always been a big fan of P 3 Star. P 3 Star is a craft bar favorite here in the States. Thanks for reminding me that I should always be trying new white rums as my palate ages with experience. Next on my list are: SelvaRey, Banks 5, Denizen 3Y, Real McCoy 3, Hamilton White Stache, Cruzan Light. I am in the US (Los Angeles). To give you a sense of what is readily available here: Plantation 3 Star, Flor de Cana, Diplomatico Planas, Veritas/Probitas, ED 3Y, Don Q, Bacardi. No: Cubans, Kingston 62 (yet), Doorly's 47%, Matusalem. Very hard to find: Chairman's, Santa Teresa, Brugal, Doorly's 40%.

I am an enthusiastic newbie to rum and bought the Chairman's after watching this review. I love a Pina Colada, but after settling on the 4 2 2 Daquiri mix, I think this might be my new "go to" cocktail. Keep up the good work. Mark.

Really great series Steve, enjoyed it very much! Little frustrating that here in Ontario, Canada the Liquor Control Board limits our selection to only 6 brands of white rum in stores (and only Havana 3 and Plantation 3 made your list). Looking forward to similar series like this in the future (I second the Mai Tai build challenge suggestion).

Nice series Steve. Should have the Cubay delivered in a day or so 👍🏻intrigued to find out how it sits in a daiquiri. Now I want Chairmans, SantaTeresa and Brugal 😵You may have to this test every 6 months or so aa with all newly added rums. Really enjoyed Streamertail in a daiquiri that I ordered a bottle

Have not been able to get Chairman's Reserve White Chicago. I've been happy with Plantation 3 Stars and I use brown sugar syrup.

Yeah and No with the Mojitos. I’m not convinced I’d pick out the differences like I did in a Daq. But I reckon that same bunch I could split into maybe “wow” and “good”. It’d just depend on the Sugar levels.

Well done great video ! I like them strong so may have chosen different to you sir Chairmans is solid so a great WIN , but price is going to be very important next year Steve, I can see traffic falling off everyday on Rum forums . I have reduced my purchasing. Cost of living has taken so many Rum tokens already my bills are up £400 a month so buying £400 less rum !. Only buying discounted deals ,but they are even drying up

Brilliant video. The st Teresa is now in my wish list. Chairman’s has been there a while. That Flor de Cana is great considering how average the 5 year old is.

Great video. It’s a shame the vast majority of these white rums are hard to get here in Australia. I’ll have to stick with Plantation 3 star. Out of interest have you tried any Cruzan rums?

Ha, like you in Australia, we in the UK don't get Cruzan, Denizen, Hamilton or various other Rums. Simply cos they bottle in 750ml for the US market, and aren't big enough companies to bottle to 700ml as well for the UK market. (as in having 2 different bottling lines)

Awesome video! I would love to see a head-to-head between Doory's 3 year and FDC 4 for a Daiquiri. I was at my local TWM store and chatting with my favorite store associate (part time worker and full time bartender) and he was telling me that if I make a Daiquiri, I should only use white rum, preferably from Barbados like either Doorly's 3yr or Stade's. I personally have tried Flor De Cana 4 (Anejo Oro), FDC 7, 12, , and 18's, but never the FDC 4 Extra Seco. I love FDC because it has a more clean? (not sure if the right term is dry) taste to it. My palate could not like Plantation 5 year, because it has a hint of banana which I don't prefer. I have been using FDC 7 for my Daiquri, but curious how a FDC 7 and the white FDC 4 compare to each other as well as how you compare the FDC4 and Doorly's. He says his favorite is Doorly's 3 for his Daiquiri's

All depends what you like. See if you watch a few of my other Daiquiri videos, you’ll see loads of these comparisons. For me I’m a traditionalist… light clean crisp and bright. So FDC4 hands down over Doorlys. But that the beauty of Rum, everyone likes something different. There no right or wrong.

Why no The Real McCoy Steve? Is it not available in the UK? I thought that I'd seen it in a previous video of yours. It's my current favorite white rum for a daiquiri although I've never tried your top 3. Cheers!

I haven't gone down the Real McCoy route yet. I will do at some point, but people think they're a "Foursquare Brand" and they're not. Richard Seale just blends it for his mate, much like Equiano and Veritas/Probitas for example. So becasue of that, while it is in the UK, it has no official distributor.

It's your fault, it's your fault i love rum.. My palette after trying 90% on this list still gives doorlys 47% top spot for daiquiris, I'll try them all again in order 😆 but very distinctive taste. Love it, oh and I have 4 more bottles incase I run out...

its so funny, I LOVED that Doorlys when i tried it. But then in a Blind Tasting, when you have nothing but the taste to guide you, I just preferred the Chairmans!
