so alot of people commenting about Damn. i don't love it as i've mentioned on my channel several times before. orzhov just has such deep removal that i would never be able to find room for it in my deck. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rJN0Z6xy2d6tfI0.html&ab_channel=EDHDeckbuilding

Orzhov is absolutely my favorite color combo. My deck can have whatever junky theme I want and I know at the end of the day I'll at least be able to respond to every major threat.
@kaiseremotion8542 жыл бұрын
orzhov is really nice, my favourite colours beings black white green in any combination, with red gaining traction recently. (ive fallen in love with rakdos since ob)
@todddearing1632 жыл бұрын
@@kaiseremotion854 I am the same way for the most part. I've only recently started branching into blue and I've got to say, mono blue is the most challenging but also at times one of the most rewarding decks I've built. It might feel a bit out of your comfort zone but my Octavia deck is extremely fun to play.

Wow how did I miss ink shield... my deck revolves around "when you gain life, your opponent(s) lose life" and I have several cards that have "when a creature enters the battle field under your control, gain 1 life". Opponent swings at my face for 30. I ink shield, 30 creatures spawn and then every opponent takes 30 to the dome. Definitely putting it in! Thanks!
@xdfarz2 жыл бұрын
When inkshield is "I've left 5 mana open and nobody attacked me because the table pitties you(for not playing anything) or are scared of removal" It hits pretty hard
@xdfarz2 жыл бұрын
And so sad that Inkshield doesn't protect my planeswalkers
@Nr47472 жыл бұрын
Yep, Inkshield is a perfectly designed card specifically because of that downside, imho. When everything goes right, you'll be saved from certain doom, untap with a huge army of flyers and feel like the smartest person to ever play Magic - but when things go really wrong, you'll essentially (at least partly) timewalked yourself.
@keiharris332 Жыл бұрын
@@Nr4747 that's why my deck likes to hold the field hostage with "when I gain life, opponents lose life" and "when a creature enters the battlefield, you gain life". If they swing, they could accidentally kill off all my opponents, or they lie fearful to my hand full of land cards heh heh
@elliegray8184 Жыл бұрын
One very notable thing about Spirit Sisters' Call: If you recur something that exiles itself as part of an effect and then returns to the battlefield, the "exile this instead" rider will be removed from the card when it re-enters. The best example of this that I can think of is the sagas from Neon Dynasty; when they exile themselves and return as an enchantment creature, they will go into your graveyard again when/if they die.

I literally searched your channel for this video yesterday. I just started making an orzhov deck two days ago.

Ink shield is soooo good it’s god tier, I was playing against a myriad deck and he swung in for 35 at each player I made 105 tokens and I swung all 105 at him even though I could of killed 2 guys for sure and maybe won the whole thing I still just wanted to send a point across to him he thought he had it won
@altromonte152 жыл бұрын
I really like night whisper because it's border agnostic. It doesn't take any setup, you don't need a board or cards in hand or anything else to make it work. That means its good on turn 2, or after a wrath, while many other draw engines do nothing on their own And sure, there are better options, but they all cost between 20 and 50 dollars
@ardenorcrush6492 жыл бұрын
Night's Whisper, Sign in Blood, Read the Bones are must haves. Permanents with draw engines like Griselbrand or Phyrexian Arena are kill on sight (and even more so Necropotence) - but nobody is going to Counterspell a Night's Whisper.

I love the temple lands! I don't put them in 3 color or more decks but they're always in my 2 color decks. Favorite cycle of lands ever!
@sanchezsebastian72 жыл бұрын
Orzhov is my favorite color combination, and I struggled a lot to find a unique niche Orzhov Commander to build around (since I don't like to build popular Commanders). Right now I have a Ravos/Tormod Deck and it seems to be working well!
@wbw9112 жыл бұрын
in the grand scheme of things the 99 or 98 having the recursion engine is more important than the face commander anyway like one could even argue going "competitive" with Tymna Tevesh is good just because Tymna can leverage on the weak creatures to dig deeper and Tevesh is able to do whatever else you need at the moment from creating fodders, drawing and sacking and pull off the ulti for lols
@sanchezsebastian72 жыл бұрын
@@wbw911 Yeah, the deck revolves more around sacrificing nontoken creatures for value and also limiting my opponents while creating tokens, so Tormod is just a good payoff for recursion and Ravos can recur good stuff once everyone is knocked down a peg, while also giving those tokens a little extra boost
@cstaie852 жыл бұрын
@@sanchezsebastian7 if you want a fun recursion enter for ETB try Lifeline. It let's all creatures who die return to play at each end step. Works great for non token etb or death trigger decks to make good loops.
@wbw9112 жыл бұрын
@@sanchezsebastian7 yea decks like that actually just needs something to dig into more pieces before the engine starts doing its thing cause there is a tendency for you to brick with just a couple of bad creatures with no real impact haha

The problem with Spirit-Sister's Call, at least for my deck, is that most of the things I'd want to get back are things that I want the death triggers for. Spirit-Sister's Call doesn't let me get that death trigger, and also removes my card permanently when it "dies" again, so no more recurrsion. Much safer to just use other recurrsion.
@kanga24682 жыл бұрын
These are just templates, you can take out any card that doesn't fit your deck no problem. He even does that in some of his deckbuilding videos. This is just the template and cards get left on the cutting room floor all the time so don't sweat it when you gotta cut a "staple"
@ILCEM-Y2 жыл бұрын
Flickering the permanent replaces the exile effect. Having a Conjurer's Closet down and saccing a 1/1 for a Rune-Scarred Demon and then flickering him with the Closet makes it so if it dies, it goes to graveyard, plus you get the ETB twice :)
@sorin_markov2 жыл бұрын
@@ILCEM-Y I don't think it does. Spirit-Sister's Call permenently exiles it not just if it dies, but if it leaves the battlefield at all
@ILCEM-Y2 жыл бұрын
@@sorin_markov but the Flicker of the Conjurer's Closer (or any flicker effect like Ephemerate for example) is a replacement effect. Flickering exiles the permanent then returns it to battlefield as a new object.

Inkshield has saved me multiple times. So has merc eviction because of the exile. Exile all artifact, enchantments, or creatures is way underlooked. Alot of people have hexproof, indestructible right now and that gets by both. I love having the option to exile what ever I need.

Can’t believe you didn’t include Damn! Hands down, Damn is one of my favorite Orzhov cards. Love the artwork too. Honestly one of my favorite commander cards period. I’ve never felt bad having Damn in my hand Kaya’s Wrath is also an amazing Orzhov card. As is Debt to the Deathless (also has amazing art). Kaya’s Wrath and Debt to the Deathless absolutely crush in decks have lifegain/drain themes. I’ve also found Revival / Revenge to work surprisingly well in my Orzhov decks.

I think Breena the Demagogue will improve almost any Orzhov deck. At it's worst It's a 3 cmc flyer that draws you cards on attack. At it's best it also protects you while your opponents murder each other.
@thomaspetrucka9173 Жыл бұрын
Orzhov is ABSOLUTELY the best removal combo. White can handle any type of permanent, and black can handle pesky indestructible creatures. Both are great for board wipes. It’s never been a question.
@yumyumeatemup Жыл бұрын
I used to be very high on the scry lands. Free scry and a land that can tap for either of my colors? Hell yes. Problem is that more and more we keep getting lands made that come into play untapped given we meet some special requirement and the scry lands will never be able to do that no matter what we do when we play them. So it gets harder and harder for me to justify including them when i can get an up-tapped mana fixing land onto the battlefield instead. I still run them in certain decks or as a budget item. I can def say among all the dual mana lands that come into play tap they reign supreme but they are now the last thing i will include in a deck if i need to add one more mana fixing land.
@cstaie852 жыл бұрын
Demo... you forgot Damn. :) it is insane as a single target removal for 2 or a board wipe for 4.

@cstaie852 жыл бұрын
@@edhdeckbuilding ok. To me versatility is important. Not just in type but functionality. Anguished unmaking is def most versatile with the least drawbacks as well as generous gift for 3 mana. In my orzhov deck I am keeping my mana curve around 2. So there are only like 6 spells over 2 mana in the deck. My less competitive orzhov deck runs pretty much all your staples.

oh spirit-Sister's call you forgot the best thing of them all with it and its thats you got the same trick with Unearth cards and Dawn of the Dead (from one of your 10 underplayed cards i bleieve) because the word "anywhere else" part that means if you exile it (via flicker) not only it doesn't fit the clause it becomes a new object and forgets that so you could make it permanent thanks to that and what commander is in orzhov colors that can flicker and that's Aminatou, Fateshifteer she can flicker any permanent even lands with her minus one.
