Great video Driver53, that’s pretty much the results I got when I did some testing, so good to confirm. Yes Elm and Oak have always been high volume producing trees, but as they are such a PITA to log and transport, I think I’m going to stick to Lodgepole or Poderossa because they are quicker and easier to transport.

Surely growth rates are a consideration too. Londgepole Pine is 13 months to full growth and most of the others are 24 months, so over time your gonna get more lodgepole for your bucks.

I didn't consider growth rate as there are thousands of trees already on the map. If growing your own the lodgepole pine has the shortest growth duration to full maturity.

@@Driver53Gaming Yeah about 20,000 they reckon but if you are playing with just say one plot (Farm Manager) in theory they are not yours to cut. I have already replanted the whole of plot 36 with mainly Lodgepole and the remainder Ponderosa and are already beginning to cut those too. Really love your vids and want to thank you for all your hard work and efforts to make things easy for us budding farmers and now loggers.

Shorter trees do have a lower volume.

Since you have full grow specimens of each tree types, could you possibly figure out the diameter of each tree to see what tree might be best for each harvester size?

The Spruce is the largest and cannot be harvested with the starting harvester. Didn't have any problem with them when using the Rottne.

anyone else notice you cant lift over 200KG but if you hold a stick you can push all your log pile logs around no matter the weight? also you can litteraly stick the stick in between other logs and pry it as if like a lever.. it works to move heavier piles. kind of nice it sort of flimsy i use it to straitwn my wood piles on thw intricate detailed parts where my tractors cant reach without disturbing the hole pile. it feel like working a field if you get a big tipper and your tractor bucket cut all logs with harvester to size set aside i seperate pile all tree tips branches od size cuts keep same size together ghen use bucket to lift and dump into tipper trailer unless theres a back door or something low you can dump in beside the bucket. felt like i was really remodeling and cleaning a field to prep for land scape lol

I wonder if the quality of the ground affects the trees density or does just the sales bonus apply if you go through the precision farming steps? Ideally you want the trees that produce the most density, but I'm curious about this topic I'll have to test it by making a grass field and putting fertilizers ETC into it, and then planting a tree in it and then off of the soil some where.

Nope. You can grow a tree on concrete and it will be the same.

Hey Driver, it seems to me you put a lot of work and thought into this. Very helpful and thanks for that. I am wondering though, that it would be better to take one log of the same length of each type of tree. I feel there are variations on total length, how high/low you cut them to the ground and such. It is a little nitpicking, but would make it more accurate.

Great suggestion. Let me explain why I decided to do it this way. The tree trunks are shaped differently. Lodgepole have a slight reduction in trunk diameter from bottom to top while spruce start out very wide but taper down a significant amount at the top. If I only used the bottom 6 meters of a tree it wouldn't be a true representation of the entire tree.

How does your volume in this test compare to the volume of the trees that you just showed into the container? I do realize yhat you sell containers but all that work to cut up and transport. Once again thank you for all your hard work.

You'll go insane cutting up Elm trees. It's best to just get a big skidder and drag the entire tree to the pond. Or, better yet, just grow them on the banks of the pond and when you cut them they'll go straight into the pond. You can test this by buying large Elms from the landscape menu and placing them on the beach. A $4,000 tree will net you 9,000 L or about $29,000 in planks.

i use that wood chipper/ tree eater with the capacity of 50k to get rid of small or weird trees as well as stump and was able to get 31k liters of wood chip out of one of those elms, just insane.

Yea because something else I found out in testing, the sawmill doesn’t care what lengths your logs are, whole tree or cut into lengths it gives nearly the same volume. I tried it with a Lodgepole got 7071 (not delimbed) for the whole tree, or the same tree cut into 6M lengths got 6964.

It is the big bag handler from the CSZ pack. Easiest tool by far for handling logs. Al you have to do is push them in a neat pile and with a wheelloader you can lift the entire pile up. A big telehandler can do it too. If you dont have a nice even pile it can start to shake and glitch out though.

I've seen someone else try selling them and the value was basically nothing. Probably either due to not being implemented or to discourage players from trying.

@@aquanick2001 Have you tried all of the production chains? I've been hoping that there is some hidden divisor on the wood turner, and sale prices which might make it less of a cruel joke at some process.

@@LordOOTFD have I tried putting deadwood into any of the production chains, no I haven’t. I thought maybe it would make sense if deadwood at least gave the same for wood chips as a healthy tree, but nope wood chip output is dismal as well…..whole large tree made like 23 litres of chips.

If you don't buy the old sawmill when you sell this thinks you take less money for heavy stuff and more money for the straight stuff ?? When you have of course you need litters but to buy it you need money so you must to do another video with this parameters and also show us kg vs money to sheet please .

how do these buildings for production begin making profit i clicked on sell wood and got 0 dollars vs the saw mill.. if they dont pay for wood and they just take a supply for making furniturw why is there a note saying (sell wood) like the saw mill.. my stats show negative income for maintanemce i think of building for carpentry and ive since made nothing on carpentry if amything its costing money so whats the point... i changed to sell furniture ive changed to store it no profits its costed me my next upgraded forestry tool twice now.. in woof trying to get it working and its not working. how is it suppose to make a profit if the damn thing just steals logs makes furniture and doesnt share profits..?

Not really realistic this, as the sawmill makes planks and construction materials which need to be long straight wood. Pine, spruce ect oak is now good for that. Should be make into the game that the sawmill production takes long tall skinny trees and oak and elm is accepted at the flooring factory and furniture shop

Yeah. It's not realistic at all but this is how FS22 has always worked. It looks like the game gives a penalty to the price per liter of a tree if it isn't straight rather than giving a reduction to the usable liters which would make more sense and be more consistent. As it is now, dragging whole Elm trees into the pond is the most effective way to fill up the sawmill.
