Cannot thank you enough for these videos. I now have confirmed my target as a DB9.2 as my dream purchase. Now gotta find one!

Dear Mr. BamfordRose, thank you for this video. I own a 2001 DB7 V12 Vantage with a manual stick shift in exactly the same exterior colour as the one you are testing here: Chiltern Green. The interior of my DB7 is tan/green leather. It has about 97,000 KM on the clock, which is about 60,000 miles. It is also in great technical and cosmetic condition, regularly serviced by Aston Martin only. I enjoy driving my DB7 so very much. It accelerates quickly enough and its max. speed is more than I really need (I live in Germany and like driving on the Autobahn without a speed limit...). It's even more pleasure to drive it on twisting overland roads. Of course, it also has some shortcomings, for example finding the right gate when shifting (quickly) can be a challenge at times. Room on the driver's seat is not fantastic (I'm 6'2), and the 3 pedals are too close to each other. But this is whining on a very high level. Before buying the DB7 I had also looked at the DB9 and other Astons as potential options (and actually other British cars, including Jaguars, as well). But I decided for the DB7. Why? Because of its looks and charisma! I love the DB7's classic car look and feel and its 90ies interior. The DB7's elegance and distinguished, perfect lines/shape are second to no other car. The more recent Astons are already computers on wheels and do lack the DB7's pure-car-feel, elegance and noble understatement. I imagine rich Russians and Saudis or even pimps in a DB9 etc., but you won't see them in a DB7 - you know what I mean. If I want performance, noise, spectacle and attention (from the wrong people), I wouldn't buy a DB9 or other similar Aston anyway, but rather a Porsche or Ferrari. But this is not what I was looking for. Warm regards from Germany, Stefan

Great video. Been thinking about getting a DB9 - have always wanted a 12 cyl. Currently have 2 Vantages (V8s) - one with the 6 speed manual and one with the paddle shifters. While I enjoy them both, I find the paddle shift car much more enjoyable to drive, so I probably wouldn't go with a manual DB9. Could be because I'm getting older, but I just find the paddle shift cars easier to drive fast. Thanks for the video!

I purchased my Grigio Titanio DB9 Auto last year and can't believe what a superb car it is. I choose the auto DB9 for many of the reasons Mike outlined, modern chaise construction, little or no corrosion issues, more reliable and the auto because being in my late 50's I am more interested in relaxed driving than I once was. Prices for DB9's have definately firmed up in the last 18 months so if your thinking of buying a DB9 get a move on. Very informative video as always.

Whatever you do don't buy any Aston if your bank account isn't "healthy"I bought a 2007 DB9 with only 30,000 klms on the clock. It "died" in heavy traffic and was towed to my local Aston dealer. An oil warning appeared and stated "do not start".$8000 later all was well apart from my bank account.

Very nice video! I’m a long time DB7 fan, and generally prefer them to the 9 despite understanding the dynamic shortcomings. I think we can extrapolate with why one might choose a 7 over a 9 to why would one choose a 6 over a 7? Surely the 7 is better in every objective metric, but people gladly pay 10x for a 6… more for a 5 or 4.

I had 2006 DB9 manual back in 2009 to 2011… I literally couldn’t get rid of it 🤷🏻‍♂️ the market really is a fickle beast 🙄 The car purchased from AM Mayfair but it had clutch judder in 1st and it was maintained by both Aston Works and then local main dealer in Reading so it wasn’t broken… or so they said 🤨 Nice car but definitely a GT and not a sports car. Rear seats very useful whilst I had small children, but given the choice now I’d get the Vantage as it’s better looking.

Now you got me second guessing my decision to buy a V8V N430 sport shift and maybe look for a DB9.2 auto instead 🤔

Shame you couldn't also compare the driving experience of a V12 Vantage manual as I suppose it's really the only one of the 3 models where the manual really makes sense. Although given the 50k budget the Vantage is out of reach.

Sorry what is the DB9.2? Is it the 2013+ model?
