Jim and Dominique Keeling established Whichford Pottery in 1976 with two apprentices and now lead a team of 30 local people. We design and make a wide range of English terracotta flowerpots using traditional hand-thrown and hand-pressed methods for discerning gardeners worldwide.

Fabulous inspiration. I've been a classically trained potter throwing for 45 years and watching these techniques and designs is providing another few years of ideas. Thank you.

This guy is amazing. Those pots are huge and he makes it look easy. Throwing small pieces with that amount of speed is difficult. The things he's doing may not look very hard, but the steadiness and attention to the thickness as he goes along must take an immense amount of concentration.

Thank you for this eye opening video I tend to forget the value of terra-cotta wear in our everyday lives. You have taken the functional aspect of it to a higher level and once again made me appreciate low fired wares.Such simple yet amazing techniques for decorating that make for the classiest final pieces. I also have to add... you guys can throw your arses off, very impressed indeed.

The best thing about working with clay, I think, is the fact the very same techniques are used as have always been. Ultimately though, it is about truly working with your hands and the clay, working by touch. I wish I had started this straight from school, instead of learning about it in my 50’s. Just wonderful!

Awesome, I'm impressed. Well, the sheer skill of trained potters is always impressive. It's so hard to attain it. And I'm also impressed at an Englishman wearing a Spanish-style beret, so cute. lol Also, very impressed that your clay body is pure clay, with no additions whatsoever.

This video never ceases to amaze me. I wish I could throw like the guy in the beret did. I feel like if I can do that then there wouldn't be anything I couldn't make! It only took him about 3 and a half minutes to make that. It would probably take me closer to 3 and a half decades to be able throw 14 pounds and get the wall thickness perfectly even. I guess I need to find a mentor.
