While this may seem like a typical moment for most children, Michael's journey has been anything but typical. To say otherwise would diminish all the hard work and effort that Michael and we have put in to reach this point. Understanding what Michael can and cannot do relies on us helping him discover his strengths and weaknesses. If there's something he can't do, we support him until he can. The best way to uncover this is by spending as much time as possible with him, intentionally and meaningfully. This is yet another reason why sending him to traditional schooling would do him a disservice, as it would not provide the best support he needs in the same way a parent’s vested interest, care, and love can. 📌Autism is associated with differences in brain structure and function, which can impact motor control, coordination, and physical strength.
